I'm going to the Sandos Gala in March. This is a AI resort. It's not a 5 star but it has a nice beach, food is pretty good, and the people are friendly. There are so many good AI's, it is hard to recommend just one.

This web site will give you a idea on some good resorts in the Playacar area. They are all in walking distance to PDC and it is a very safe area. This time of the year it is a little harder to get into some of the resorts. The Iberostar is supposed to be pretty nice also. Last year some of the beaches in front of some of the resorts had been washed away. So if you pick a resort, make sure they still have a beach. Just go on the form and ask someone that has been there.
