Tacos Israel?

Just got the new mapchick Playa map and it's not listed. Is it still open? Location? And how old are these maps? No Dr. Taco and Kailuum is still listed as a resort.

Yep, still open. I know it's on the corner of 15th Ave. I think it's around calle 10, but I'm not exactly sure. Very close to town square/Municipal Bldg. Dr. Taco is on 10th Ave. between 8th and 10th. I don't know about Kailuum. She does update her maps, but I'm not sure how to tell which version you have.

Obviously, it would be impossible for a map to include every business in Playa del Carmen. As with any other publication, they have deadlines for final submission. With all of the transitions taking place in the city or along the coast, some of those changes will undoubtedly surface on the next edition of their maps. If I was publishing a map, I'd feel inclined to keep a place like Kailuum listed until I knew with absolute certainty that it was a dead horse!

As for Tacos Israel, it's still on the corner on Calle-10 and 15th Avenue. The food is as good as ever (especially the chorizo tacos) and they have repositioned the location of the kitchen inside the building.

Exactly as Jimmy says, and if you have the most current Riviera Maya map, it shows the location of Kailuum but also says it's closed. At press time I couldn't get an official answer on whether it was closed for good or not, so rather than risk not including them, we kept them on and included their website along with a note that it's currently closed.

And I'm really sorry about the taco places, we'll try to get them on next time.
Or, better yet, you guys could keep Dr Taco and Israel your own playainfo secrets

Sometimes is better to keep the secrets, yesterday I tried to get Dr. Taco at lunchtime and it was so full that there were a couple of families waiting in line outside, so I´m really having a hard time on recomending good places now, I don´t like them to be too crowded.

Thanks Mapchick. The reason I brought it up is that I'm loaning my maps to friends and I recommended Dr. Taco and Tacos Israel to them. They are geographically challenged and won't go anywhere not listed on a map or on their GPS locator. I will just mark those locations on the map.

Hey everybody...all the restaurants in Playa have been closed by the board of health because of disgustingly filthy sanitary conditions. Closest food available on the Mayan Riviera is Johnny Rockets and Dominos Pizza in Cancun, and I hear there's one churro cart in Puerto Aventuras. Reservations recommended.

(Think that'll work, Jesus?)

I must be hitting Playa at off times. I've never had to wait at any of my favorite places.

There ya go, tell them, these are "secret" taco shops that we can't publish...hush, hush, don't tell anybody where these are or something really bad will happen to you!!

Some pics of tacos arabes "Israel".
Tacos arabes is the description of the style of tacos, arabic stye.
Israel is the first name of the owner.

When you go to the salsas table, you will see the milder (non spicy) on the left and the habaneros really hot ones on the right, so be warned.

Really tasty and cheap.
One horchata in a big cup, 15 pesos.
One taco oriental with melted cheese, 18 pesos.

BTW, it also is named Tortas Israel, as they also serve tortas beside the tacos.

Well, I know BUT.... referring back to Raunchy Ronnies, I did promise my boys that they could try a "cajita feliz" in Playa

I should add that as part of my trip planning, I have searched the forum and compiled a respectable list of kid friendly places to try.
