We are thinking of going to the Allegro in a few wks - my husband, myself and two twelve yr. old girls. Any feedback on this resort?
We generally like quieter, off-beat places but the price looks good at the Allegro. Can one snorkel off the beach? We don't want total generic Hotel Anyplace experience and would like some edible, local style food. Any info on this place? Thanks
Kathy

Hi Kathleen,

We have just stayed right next to the Allegro, therefore I will not be able to tell you anything about the Allegro's food.

One thing I didn't like about the Allegro is the fact that there is a wall (about 4 ft high) between the property itself and the beach, only leaving a rather narrow strip of sand for you to walk and kick back on a lounge chair. You can see here what I mean. If you want to read more, c lick here for google search results.

All I can tell you is that instead of going through our local travel agencies in SC, I went through an old friend who works at a travel agency in Germany, and she could get us (couple with 4-yr-old) the Viva Azteca for 30% less that the best local offer. If you are interested, contact me in private - I am not affiliated with them, but I don't like to waste any money myself.

Hi Tarik - Thanks for the info. We're already committed to the Allegro for this trip but I'll save your info in case we go again.

Kathleen,

Not that I want to steer you somewhere else, but you might want to check out this message board and read about some people's experiences. Of course, the resulting statistics are not exactly scientific, but I'd hate to see you waste your time. Good luck in either case...
