Wow!! Ok I can continue
I have about 350 pictures up at our photo blog, if you want to wade through all of them - a bunch of pics were taken outside Fusion at the cute tables on the beach, some were taken at the Tequila Barrel (those involve karaoke and a stripper pole), some of the wedding....they are all here: http://www.theranchers.com We were all alone at Fusion from Sunday through most of Wednesday, when a few of our guests arrived. I always had the continental breakfast that came free, and I thought the coffee was fantastic. (I'm a coffee freak). We spent most of the time chilling on the beach, making wedding plans, and wandering around. Like I said, we loved Carboncito's. We had a good meal at Media Luna too (you can see pics of my husband licking the dessert plate clean somewhere in our blog!). Actually, we didn't have a bad meal the whole time! The pancakes at Carboncito's were amazing too. We had breakfast twice at Las Mananitas (or something, can't quite remember) both of which were really good. And they take the playa deal card! Love that card. Guests started arriving on Wednesday, and then on Thursday we had a bachelor/ette party - it started pouring which dampened the beginning of the evening, but eventually it stopped and we headed over to Tequila Barrel. Had some drinks and appetizers there, and then realized there was an empty karaoke bar in the back, which had more fans and was cooler! We took it over and had a blast singing terribly and dancing with the pole. Many pics of this in the blog. We were the only people back there, so it was great! Friday we had the welcome party at Fusion with all of our guests, and unfortunately it poured so we had to move it indoors. We just had quesadillas (which were great, but how can you go wrong with all that cheese?!) and drinks. Just a warning, some of our guests took cabs to Fusion, but didn't have the address of the hotel on them, and the cab drivers had NO idea where Fusion was! Most of them had not heard of it. The playa.info transfer guys knew exactly where it was, but I was really surprised to hear how many of our guests spent a lot of time driving around Playa in their cabs trying to figure out where it was. Back to the food....our last night we went to Yaxche and sat in the back garden. My husband got a Mayan Sacrifice, and unfortunately in the pictures you can't see the flames burning the liquor, but it was pretty cool to see. The food was pretty good too. We went to El Oasis once and it was good, but we all got bitten by mosquitoes throughout the meal. Great Pina Coladas though. Ah Cacao makes a great mocha frappe, and the coffee was good (free with the card!). The brownie was also very good. We ate at La Parilla and we each had one margarita, then promptly went back to the hotel and passed out for three hours. Damn good 'rita! I think that about covers the food aspect... I had my hair and nails done at Spa Itza (for the wedding) and I think they all came out really nicely. Great french manicure, great hairstyle, and the price was good too! Oh we also at at the moroccan place on Calle Corazon...I forget the name, but you get a free bottle of wine with your meal! The salad we ordered was humongous and very good. The wine was actually excellent. Only drawback was that our table was in the front outside, close to the window of the restaurant, and there was a strong smell of mildew. Kind of took away from the meal a little bit. We had a lot of Gelato which was of course delicious! I have to admit that some of our friends did go skinny dipping LATE one night....we did not participate, but they seemed to have a great time! After the wedding we watch the Fire Dancers at the Blue Parrot, and that was really cool. That little 12 year old kid was amazing! Wild stuff. We got in free because we had the wedding there, but I think there is normally a cover of about $10 or so. Hmmmm I think that about covers it. Our guests took some trips to Tulum - one group had a fantastic guide, another group had a terrible guide. We didn't have time to go, but the pictures looked amazing. |

Cool! Haven't looked at your pic's yet, cause i noticed you went to Winter Park Colorado. I used to live there! I lived in Winter Park for a year, and Grand Lake for 8 years! My avatar pic was taken on top of Trail Ridge Road.
Ok off to BOTH sets of pic's!

Congratulations on your wedding!!
So sorry to hear that you had some issues with your wedding trip. That always sucks for a vacation, but I imagine was even more stressful with everything else going on!We stayed at Fusion last week and really didn't have many problems. When we checked in it took them a bit to find a key for our room, but they finally found an old one. Then later on while I was standing nekkid' the people that were in B4 us walked in The lady freaked out about where their stuff was, etc.......Heck we didn't know and didn't want it! Check-out is at noon, and apparently these people just thought they'd disappear for the day without checking out or saying anything. So Terry went up to the front with them, and made sure he got the key and that they didn't have anymore keys floating around Really the only other thing was the coffee in the a.m. When I get up I desperately need coffee, and LOTS of it! They had 1 coffee maker So there were times when I waited forever, or just left and went to Java Joe's for my wake-me-up!

Loved your pics and what a
gorgeous bride you were. The Blue Parrot really did a good job with your wedding.
A shame about the problems at the Fusion, but you seemed to be enjoying yourself on the beach in spite of it. All the best in the future! Thanks for sharing your experience and your wedding pictures. |

Just back from a week at Fusion
The hotel is seemingly missing Kim.
We arrived at about 10:30pm, so Emilio (very nice night watchman) checked us in. Our Playa Deal card was there with the key (others from Peep fest weren't so lucky). We spent most of our time off the property, so we didn't get to know any of the staff. But I will add that no one was particularly friendly either. Whatever. We hated the coffee, and we usually LOVE Mexican coffee. One morning we had to wait almost a half hour for them to make some. One of the coffee makers was broken. We only got clean beach towels ONCE the whole week. ugh.... Sorry if our towels were smelly, peeps, but we didn't bring our own and had to keep using the same old musty ones!! They would always say the laundry hadn't arrived yet, and to come back in 15 mins. We were in room #17 and the view was gorgeous (that's what we paid for). The room was very basic, with no chairs to sit on except out on the balcony. The faucet leaked all week, but we knew it wouldn't get fixed since there was mold all around it. We just shut the door when we went to bed so we wouldn't hear it. The toilet had a leak too, but we just threw a dirty towel down to absorb it. You could tell it had been caulked a hundred times. The place needs MAJOR plumbing and electrical work, and if they take care of that, it's gonna be a really NICE place. The bathroom light fixture was a wire hanging down with two bulbs attached. No shade. Whatever...it didn't bother me, but in the back of my mind, I was thinking, if this is the most expensive room in the place, I wonder what the cheaper rooms look like??? If I had paid $70/night for this room, I wouldn't have mentioned any of these things, but I paid a lot more. That's why I said I paid for the view, and it was great, and we enjoyed it. Would we do it again? No. We saw some really cute places on 1st ave that I think would suit our needs nicely. I'd happily trade the view for some friendly faces that ask how your stay is going, and if you have any needs. Martina, the cutest little maid, did a great job cleaning, so she was the recipient of the big bag of clothes, shoes and toys that I brought down. We never made it over to Luna Blue, and she said she had kids my son's age, so she got the bag. And was she ever happy! In retrospect, we had a fun stay there, and when we hung out there no one really bothered with us, so I guess it's all good, as Shawn would say. At least no one walked in on me while I was nekkid!!!

You're a man of few words...at least you had a cup before they ran out! And what did YOU think of the coffee? Ed had to go to Java Joe's every day for a second cup to wash down the first one at Fusion!
