Antigua

Have any of you fine folks been to Antigua? My wife and I will be going for a week on March 17. Would appreciate any comments or suggestions. Know it will be expensive dining, but the pictures and the little I've been learned from the one discussion board seem pretty darn nice. Any help appreciated.

Went there a few years back for a couple of weeks at an all inclusive. Had a great time on some of the most beautiful beaches we'd ever seen. While we're no longer AI type folks - prefer longer stays and the rented condo route now - it was really the only feasible option at that point. Unless it's changed, and I doubt it has, hotel and eating out would be extremely pricey, especially if you're some distance from town and you factor in some pretty hefty taxi fares.

Thanks Bumper. We're staying in a condo and will have a car. We'll try and get provisions for breakfast and snacks and eat out at night. Just need to get the wife to agree to come back to Playa or Akumal. She likes to explore. I just like the Roo best. Haven't been back in 3 years. Having withdrawal.

Bump, we need to get together for a visit. As much as we love Playa, we too are looking to explore more of the Carribean. I think you've pretty much covered anywhere we would like to try. Hugs, hope your flight Monday is good, you might have a bunch of new snow, you might not, they're still not sure what were getting this weekend, I just wish it would snow like crazy tomorrow & we (Glenn) can skip hockey, it would be nice, they got a really crappy tournament draw.

Sounds like you've got it made in the shade. The advertising program they were flogging while we were in Antigua was that they had 365 beautiful beaches, one for each day of the year. I don't know if that count is accurate, it's not that big an island, but all the ones we saw were gorgeous. The place is quite English as well, though nowhere as much as Barbados.
