That's hard. Depends on if you are talking about locations or just the resorts themselves, or complete vacations. I've only done 3 AI's but am looking forward to my 4th in May.
In order of locations (town, side-trips, local people, weather, water): 1)RIU Negril (Jamaica) 2)Iberostar Dominicana (Dominican Republic) 3)RIU Jalisco (Puerto Vallarta) In order of Niceness of resorts (food, entertainment, rooms, facilities, etc) 1) RIU Jalisco 2) RIU Negril 3) IB Dominicana Actual Vacations (total trip, people we've travelled with, extra stuff all together): 1) IB Dominicana 2) RIU Jalisco 3) RIU Negril So as you can see, there is not one thing in my mind that makes a place better than another. Each as it's own identity. We are hoping to make our trip to IB Quetzal the best yet in terms of 'complete package'. |

Haven't done as many AI's as you but I am sure you will enjoy the Quetzal Very, very much. We loved it so much the first time we aked friends of ours to come back with us...they loved it too. We don't have kids but, I will enjoy bringing my kids there someday just as much. I think it has enough for both adults and kids. Have fun!!!

1. Royal Hideaway (2006)
2. Royal Hideaway (2004) 3. Royal Hideaway (2005) 4. Riu Palace Mexico (2006) 5. Cieba del Mar - Puerto Morelos (2005) (RPM has a better beach and nicer all-over resort than CDM, but CDM has better food by far). 6. Occidental Grand Xcaret (2005) Hoepfully, Royal Hideaway in 2007 will move to the top.

#1 Royal Playa del Carmen 2x's. Will be our third time there, the good Lord willing, nuff said.
#2 Iberostar Lindo 2 weeks, Great resort for families #3 Copacabana 2x's once for one week, once for 2 weeks. Great beach. Loved it here too. #4 Royal Solaris newbies first time to Mexico and Cancun about 12 years ago. We really liked it here too. #5 Allegro Punta Cana. Loved the beach, hated the sand fleas. #6 Holiday Inn Sunspree Jamacia three times. Great resort for families. Nice shopping across the street. Jamacian people are sooo incredible and super laid back and helpful and friendly. The food is awesome. Really good drinks here too. |

Quite a list. There are probably more, but I'm getting old and my memory isn't what it used to be.
![]() 1. Gran Porto Real 2. Royal Maeva (now Sandos Playacar) 3. Diamond Resort Cozumel (now Allegro) 4. Couples Ocho Rios 5. Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus 6. Iberostar Cozumel 7. Eldorado ( now Eldorado Seaside Suites) 8. Catalonia Royal Tulum 9. Hodelpa Caribe Club Punta Cana (now Caribe Club Princess) 10. Allegro Playacar 11. Palladium Vallarta - Way out in the middle of nowhere. The bus ride is like being on a roller coaster. 12. Grand Paradise Bavaro 13. Gran Caribe Real Cancun It was being renovated. I got what I paid for, but it could have been better. 14. Jack Tar Village Puerto Plata 15. Presidente Ixtapa - Worst food of any AI I have ever stayed at. The Gran Porto & Royal Maeva really stand out. They were both brand new when I stayed there. Maybe it was the fact that I never had to leave my beach chair at either place. The drinks came to me and they were awesome. Diamond Cozumel was my first all inclusive. The one thing I remember was they didn't have the bracelets. We had ID's that hung around our necks with our picture on them. They gave them to you when checked in and you had to show them for drinks & food or any time the security wanted to look at them. Lots of security! Never stayed anywhere twice, but the Gran Porto Real tempts me every time I see it.

We've onlly visited two, and they are not even in the same league, but here's our ranking.
1. Copacabana (we loved that it was small) 2. Adventura Spa Palace (had a great time, but missed the beach). Next stop....Barcelo Maya Beach with the family...... |

Barcelo I will keep returning to but here is my order
1 Barcelo 5x Great food, beach and pools (perfect for our likings) 2 Palladium Colonial (was really good if no food issues were going on) 3 Tryp Cayo Coco no frills, but fun resort with yucky food, great beach 4 RIU Tequila Overcrowded would not return, not worth paying big $ for 5 Oasis Playa was ok, Cancun is just not for us over 40year olds LOL 7 Pelicanos Complex PV, had a blast but would not compare to any listed above. I am tired of trying new places, when your heart is in one area(barcelo)you just have to keep with it. The Palladium would have come close if not for all the food poisioning issues that are still going on. Its too bad hope they get it fixed up because I might consider going back it has so much going for it. I also hope the Palladium Addicts board starts letting the truth be spoken. |
