Adventura vs Xpu-ha Palace
Hi everyone,
Our 5th anniversary is coming up at the end of November 2003. We are a couple in our late 30's with no kids who love golfing. In all honesty I am sick of All-Inlcusives for many reasons, the least of which is the quality of food and the level of service. We have been to many all inclusives on both the East & West Coast of Mexico, DR and Cuba. We usually stay at no less than 5 star resorts and wouldn't mind the premium price we pay for them if they delivered all that is promised. We stayed at the Riu Palace in Playacar November 2000. I found the resort to be just good, although the bad weather played a big part in my overall impression. I especially didn't like no waiter/tress service for the pool and beach. I found the Riu Beach to be pretty nice except that it was quite rough. Our requirements for an all-inclusive resort are green fees (with no extra cost like caddies or mandatory carts), good beach with white sand, calm swimming waters and sandy bottoms, decent food, modern accdomodations with fair sized bathrooms, 24 hour snacks & room service, great service with tipping included. We were considering Jamaica but it seems as if the Adventura/Xpu-Ha Palace are the only resorts taht do not have any hidden fees for golfing (like mandatory carts). I also love that drinks and snacks at the courses are also included. Has anyone done the golf packages at either of these resorts? Also the beach and room are very important to me. Which resort is better for these requirements? Thanks in advance. |

Adventura Spa aparently doesn't have a beach but a man made lagoon. Have you checked out the Royal Hide-away? I don't know if they have golf but in all of my research it seems to be the best resort. I found absolutely no negative feedback and it is smaller than the other resorts.

We stayed at ASP January 2003 and visited xpu ha twice during our stay. ASP delivered all that was promised of a 5 star AI. Food was really good. Service was excellent.
RE beach: XPU ha wins by far. It sounds exactly like the beach you are looking for. I can't comment on the food or service. IF you were to stay at ASP, you can get to Xpu Ha in 5 minutes by taxi. Re Golf: There were excursions from ASP. I think they went to Moon Palace - also part of the palace resorts. (You can eat at any restaurant and use theur facilities at no extra charge). Moon palace is about 45 minutes (I think) from ASP. We heard from one couple that the green fees for visitors was $250 because this is a "Jack Nicholas" designed course. Depending on which travel agency you use, you might be able to have the green fees included in your package. |

It is awesome. Peaceful, and you are well taken care of. The rooms are really special. They have a Big King bed very comfortable and a two person BIG Juquizzi tub Double sinks and a glass shower. It is so perfect. We really felt relaxed and enjooyed every thing about our stay. |
