I am all for pragmatic solutions to the real problem of terrorism, but I am not willing to give up my Constitutional rights to power-hungry politicians of either party. That will lead to abuse of the system for other-than-fighting-terrorism purposes. But you don't have to believe me. Just read a little 1930's German history. (Seriously!)

Marginalization is unintentional. My apologies if you read that into my statements. Your views are much different than mine, but as I've said in the past, no less important. I disagree fundamentally with your approach to illegal immigrants.

I hope that in the coming years your tyranny/terrorism statement proves out. But I don't believe it. I've been to far too many countries and seen too many dark things in the world to think this is the case.

Agreed on the power hungry politicos, but I think you've missed the point. If you believe that the Democrats weren't listening in illegally, you're deluded. I helped build some of the technology. We do need caretakers - I'm not putting one party ahead of the other, but the need is there. There are plenty of dangerous people in the world. Many here among us.

It's all good, G! I don't trust any politician, no matter which party, and no matter if I voted for and support them. Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely! I don't doubt that security should be taken seriously. I just prefer that there be checks and balances to prevent abuse of the system for personal or political gain. Technology, in and of itself, is neither good nor evil. Like they say, "Guns don't kill people, people do."
