Sharing the Playa love....
Pretty cool. Fine dining abounds (we tend to eat local and on the cheap) so I'm certain there'll be tons of suggestions...Of course, folks DO have their favorites. There's a thread entitled "Heater's Places to Eat...Things To Do...Places To Booze" as a start. I think it's been kept up to date. |

Dante has a special level of Hell set aside for my mother in Mexico. I mean, anything that is different than the Pick 'n Save (grocery store) in South Milwaukee is "just wrong".
Sorry Mom, I know you could use some tropical sun and warm salt water, but I know you would hate every second of the way Mme D and I do Mexico. Maybe you should waste my inheritance on one of those floating tin cans, I mean cruise ships. On the other hand, my MIL, if she outlasts her husband (a great guy, but I couldn't stand a whole week with him) would love it

I would say for great food go to Petite Marrakesh on Calle Corazon. You will not be disappointed.
Right across from Petite Marrakesh on Calle Corazon is John Gray's. John Gray's is more "fine dining". John Gray's is expensive food that is good, not great. |

Don't miss Casa Mediterranea - fabulous Italian food - it's in an alley on the East side of 5th between 6th & 8th - it's easy to pass up if the podium is not out front.
For great beef there's an Argentine steakhouse (la parilla de something or other) on 10th between 24th and 26th (east side of 10th - palapa roof). The prices there are easily half those at Chicago Don's and the beef is positively melt in your mouth - don't miss the avocado and shrimp salad or spinach and mozarella empanadas. La Pesca, of course, Cazuela Mixto is the nectar of goddesses ![]() Other than that check out the threads Cuff and Sham mentioned. I'm ravenous now

This list was compiled by our good friend Heater and we have used it on our last couple of visits...very good. We have had great food and service at Casa del Agua and Ula Gula on our last two visits. Others that have had great reviews on this forum are La Mediterannea, La Pesca, HC Monterrey and Buenos Aires that we'll be hitting in May. For a more casual meal, the members of the forum have been raving about Schlongos Del. When are you going down in May?
