Kathy & Danny's PeepStock Pics & Report
Ok, this will be short and sweet, and mostly pics.
DAY 1 We got up. It was cold and dark. We drove to the airport where it was still cold and dark. Uneventful flight to Atlanta where we were to hook up with Karen and David for the flight to Playa. We had delayed boarding and Karen and David finally arrived. I was getting nervous there for a while! Karen had arranged a Playa.info van. Stopped for beer. Checked into Hotel Fusion. We met Ian and Connie, unfortunately they were leaving the next day. We also met Cazador (Tim and Dee Dee) and BeeGees (Bruce and Gene) Me, Danny, Karen, Ian, Connie and David. Met up with peeps at the Beer Bucket (Erik, Karen, Jan, Danny, me, David) Danny and I wandered back to the hotel and listened to some music at a couple of nearby beach bars, then called it a night. |

Day 2
We had the continental breakfast that was included all 5 days we were at the Fusion. (toast, croissants, a cheese pastry, juice and coffee) It was perfect. Why, oh why am I such an admirer of towel art? We spent most of the day reading and relaxing on the beach at the Fusion. Ran into all the peeps we met the day before. Don and Deb walked by and presented us with our Bumper pin. I was oh-so-sad that Bumper had already left. Lunch was coco shrimp at Playa Maya. We went to Bad Boys at 4:00 for live music. That was fun! Eric is a really great performer. (stage slut!) There was a lunar eclipse that night. Danny decided to hold the moon so it could be seen in the pic! We went to Tacos del Rey to eat. They're across from Chicago Don Jose, and open at 7:00pm. No sign. We each had a pollo and queso torta with tomato and avocado slices. Heavenly. Two tortas and 2 beers: $90 pesos. We went to the very enjoyable peep meet that Ali set up at the Lobby Bar. My pictures were crap because the camera was on "night" setting and it made them come out blurry.

DAY 3
We did the Wal-mart trip in the morning. Of course we asked what time alcohol sales started and the employee says "now" but of course it was too early. We never did make it back to Wal-mart, opting to use mini-supers for booze. I guess I'll say here that two times money changers attempted to rip us off. Once by counting incorrectly, and once by not giving us the adding machine tape. (same place/person that tried it on Karen) We always bring a wad of cash just in case the ATM's are out of money or there is a power outage, but at least you can count on the ATM not to short-change you. We were also short-changed at the bus station, which was our fault for being distracted. My advice is to be aware and always count your change. Back to regularly scheduled programming! We hung with Karen and David on the beach, and let me tell you, Karen is never bored because she makes her own fun! Here she is embellishing Fusion's restaurant sign Karen and David bobbin' Danny and I ate lunch twice at Fusion, and split it both times. If we had each had a lunch, we would have been too full for dinner! Sunday afternoon, Randy(Vike57) and Gina(REDirish) arrived. Buckets of Sol all around! That evening, Danny and I had dinner with Bruce and Gene at Media Luna. They are really fun peeps to hang with. |

UMMMM... dinner with Bruce and Gene was ACTUALLY Tues the 6th!!
Back to Sunday! Sunday's dinner was at Casa Mediterranea. It was really, really good. Again, my night pictures were crap. Here's one at the Beer Bucket. Some peeps were wearing black and white (Happy Birthday Donna) We heard live music and walked to the small amphitheater across from Tango Taco (?) and watched a local rock band. It started to rain and we went into Turtle Beach Art and bought a beautiful print of a watercolor done by Barry (popeye) I collect turtles and it's my favorite. I actually got this big one and another small one for my office at work. This is a pic of a pic, so you can imagine that it's even more beautiful in person! We went back to the Fusion and had a drink on the beach. Last edited by kathy.web; 03-19-2007 at 04:07 PM. |

Day 4 Monday 3-5
Lazy beach day. We went to El Sarape for lunch. Danny had Pozole and I had charro bean soup with pastor meat and cheese in it. Excellent. Hung out at Fusion beach with Karen and David, Randy and Gina, Bruce and Gene. El Oasis for dinner. PeepStock peep meet. Again, crappy night pictures. I hope there are more pics posted of that night. We met a lot of peeps that night! |

Another lazy beach day! The sea was rough. This is Randy and Gina getting smashed: Our lunch: Our dinner with Bruce and Gene was covered earlier in the wrong day We ended up that night with some live music at Captain Dave's on 10th, and ran into Don and Deb. It was very chilly that night! Day 6 Wed 3-7 Beached around, packed, checked out of Fusion by noon but hung around most of the day. Lunch at Carboncito. Cab to Luna Blue. Did some shopping. Since it's Wednesday and we're hungry, we walk to Manne's for rib night. We sat down and ordered, and soon the place was invaded by peeps! Barb, Maggie and Shelly on the right, Alicia in the back, Bruce and Gene on the right, Gina in front. What's with the fingers? We finished up the evening with drinks at the Beer Bucket. Sol (Alicia) arrived today!
