Vike57's Surprise Party

First, let me apologize for the delay in this "infamous" birthday report. I have been juggling the mess at work I came back to, plus all the paperwork to get this bloody house in Colorado built. And as if that was not enough, I typed a really wonderful "masterpiece" and the pacman computer ate it in about 3 seconds or less. So I am taking the advice of some really smart Peeps and typing it in Word first, then I will insert pics and hope it works this time.

Ok, here goes . . . about 3 weeks before we left I PM'd everyone on the Peep list that Nerak had posted for Peepstock. I invited you all to join me in surprising my hubby for his 50th b-day. I knew he would never figure it out since his real birthday isn't until March 31st (the day after our wedding anniversary). Everyone was to meet at TB, since the kickoff meet was at BB. I cannot believe that having met so many people for the first time, almost no one let it slip (Biz & Tinabean - I still luv you, thanks for helping me cover our story).

So, Friday morning dawn a bit gloomy, everyone from the Fusion was on the Fatcat and it was looking like rain. Randy and I went down and split the arrecherra steak & eggs for breakfast, then took our usual morning walk along the beach to say g'day to those we knew.

Upon arriving back to Fusion, we had a nice patch of sunlight so we planted our butts in our chairs and settled in to enjoy some rays. About 10:30am or so Randy ordered a bucket of Sol, just knowing that Peeps would stroll by and he could share a cold one with them. Around 11:00am Zelda came by and had a beer, but left us and poor Randy had to drink the other 4 himself. So being the ever-bright and shining star that he is, he leans over to tell me that if he doesn't eat something soon, he is gonna be toast for the rest of the day. So we ordered some chips, guac and pico to take the edge off. It was about 30 minutes later that Rotin came down and suggested we head for cover - we looked up and thought it didn't look that bad. But since the man lives here, we decided to take his advice and sit at the bar. For the 2-1/2 minutes it took us to get under cover, it poured down buckets!!!!!!! I mean hard, driving rain - but it only lasted for about 30 minutes or so.

We decided to get Randy walking off the alcohol he had already consumed, so we threw on a cover-up and headed into town. We ran into several Peeps who had not gone on the Fatcat, and my wonderfully innocent husband was inviting everyone to a "Peepmeet" at the TB that night - too funny!!!! We walked around for about 2 hours, and were headed back to Fusion when we started meeting Peeps coming back from the Fatcat. So we ended up chatting for another hour or so. By now it was around 4:00pm and my darling hubby was beginning to lose steam. So I suggested we head for the room so I could shower and take a siesta, knowing that he would never sleep. But he agreed and we went back, downloaded more pics, and showered off the day to get ready for the night. Once we were cleaned up, we went back to the Fusion bar and had a drink

Then I suggested we go to the Internet cafe to check on things at home. We had talked to Stonecold the night before at the Burger Bash about possibly meeting up for dinner at Carboncitos before the TB meet. But by 6:00pm we figured they had taken a siesta, and we would meet up with them later on. So off to Carboncitos we went . . .

We had the wonderful salsa tray

chicken bruschetta and pork chop fajitas

And ran into a few Peeps as well

By the time we got done eating, and Randy had a few more beers, he was hinting at calling it a night . . . so I put on my "sneaky wife telling a little white lie" face and said I still needed a few more souveniers before we went home, and we wouldn't have time to shop tomorrow because of the beach trip and please could we just look really fast and . . . well, you get the idea.
So I dragged my now slightly unwilling, fairly inebriated spouse into every dang shop I could on 5th, trying to kill time. Blissfully as we passed Media Luna we ran into Mike & Deb (Stonecold) having dinner. I enlisted their help in keeping life's breath into my husbands body so he wouldn't miss his own surprise party, for gosh sake. They mentioned they had never seen the Fusion, and I saw the light come back into Randy's eyes. One thing he loves to do is show off the hotel and defend it to the end. So we took them down to our neck of the woods, showed them the gardens and our room, then went to sit on the beach and listen to the band. And of course, have a drink (just what Randy needed)

By now we had convinced Randy to at least put in an appearance at the TB and then we could leave if he still did not want to stay, so we headed out. By now we were a small gang, but at least I had help steering my honey up the street. Upon arriving at the TB, there was a roomful of Peeps to yell "Surprise" and my husband had the most adorable dumb-founded look on his face. The events that ensued were not only hilarious, uproarious and any other "ious" you can think of - but it was a time of fun with wonderful people who made that day in my husbands life (even tho he does not remember much of it) a memory I know I will never forget and will share with Randy til we are old and gray (soory, honey, I forgot you are already there - hehehe). I will post the highlights of the evening in pics now, and I know that many other Peeps have ones they can add.

Suffice it to say that we had a blast. I want to take a moment to personally thank Nerak for feeding me ideas, Maggie & Shelley for getting out to shop the decorations for me, the TB for allowing us to be as crazy as we wanted - but mostly, to all those who attended and shared the laughter with us that evening

HUGS TO YOU ALL!!!!!

Gotta tell ya, I only have one regret from our trip, and that is that we didn't make Randy's BD bash. I'm still kicking myself. Next year, no family members allowed!!!!!!!!

And my regret is that we did not get back in time to see Eric play after the Beach Bash. But we are looking forward to hooking up with you guys when we come up for football this fall.

Here's a couple more shots of the evenings festivities. By now it goes without saying that we had so much fun that night and everyday we were there meeting and spending time with ALL you folks. Peeps are clearly very special people and we'll have memories for many years:

Hola Everyone!!! So I've been lurking all over this thing since we've been home and haven't really had time to post anything since I've been at that god awful place we call work, pretty much every second since I've been home. These pictures are great!!! I can honestly say that this night was the best one of our time in Playa. I was so glad that Gina allowed us to be a part of Randy's partay!!! Gina and Randy, the 3 of us had so much fun with you guys. Gina, please tell Randy to wear his helmet, we don't need him to hurt himself. The 3 of us girls had just an amazing time meeting some of the greatest people ever. I think I can speak for all of us and say that I'm really going to miss seeing everyones smiling (ok drunken) faces. Good thing we took lots of pictures!!!
