Investigators probing whether U.S. attorneys were fired for political rather than professional reasons are looking at why there is a 16-day gap in e-mail records released to them. The probe is threatening to explode into a constitutional battle with Congress and the White House apparently on collision course -- and some lawmakers are calling for U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales' resignation.

But the documents included no correspondence about the firings in the critical time period between November 15, 2006, and December 2, 2006, right before the attorneys were asked for their resignations.

This is hilarious to those of us old enough to remember the 18 minute gap.

It is also sad.

I might still have that copy of Weekly Reader - anyone remember that, we got it at school.
