Just back from Viva Wyndham Maya - Questions?
Couple of FAQs.
1. Beach is improving daily. Large sandbags are being erected to protect and expand the beach. When I left yesterday they had around 8 rows of chairs on one half of the beach and were working on the second half. 2. Weather. Hot n sunny all but 2 days of our 13 day trip. Much windier than I remember last year and years past. Ocean not calm but fun for boogie boarding etc etc. 3. Adjacent resorts are not protecting their beaches and therefore losing some more palms etc etc. However, the resorts are set back further and therefore they had more beach to start with. 4. Playa del Carmen is getting bigger and bigger. Starting to become too much like Cancun South for my taste as 5th Avenue keeps growing and growing. Any questions welcome. Mike |

I'm curious as to why you feel that way. Certainly not the nightlife. Certainly not the highrise after highrise Certainly not the spring breakers I do know traffic and parking are larger issues now. |

Beach/Cancun South etc
Greetings
I will post some beach renovation pics as soon as I've downloaded them from the camera. Hi Babaloo... I know there are no hi rises but Walmart, Sam's Club...... and 5th Ave north of 10 look more like a mexican rodeo drive than the "old" PDC we first saw 8/9 years ago. I know that development etc is good but its not what I like and we will probably head further south next time. Frankly, I find PDC quite expensive these and while I accept that there are good and less expensive restaurants off the main strip, we used to eat out in PDC for roughly half what we pay in Canada. Now its about the same. No complaints... just an observation. Regards Mike |

Best spot is adjacent to the towel station by the pool. There are palms there and they never put chairs there because its on the pool deck not the beach. Circle the wagons and be prepared to fend off all attackers.... Mike |
