Hey, I lied here.

The real meaning of this thread is not about sex, but how we should treat our wives.

I heard on the news the other day that in Germany, and I'm not trying to bash Germany here, just some judicial decision, but a judge in a domestic abuse case said that it was ok for a husband to beat his wife.

Just as aside.... (and not in response to Stogey's thread cuz that would make me bang my head against the wall)....

Do you know where the saying "rule of thumb" came from??

I believe it originated in merry ol' England. The "rule of thumb" meant that, according to the law, a man could not beat his wife with a stick that was thicker than his thumb.

Just one of those handy dandy factzoids that my brain holds.... which if it weren't in there, I'd have more space for remembering things like how to correctly connect the cables when jumpstarting a car, that "m" comes before "n" in the alphabet (without having to recite "lmnop" each time), and that I need to buy toilet paper the next time I go to the market.

Well, just to clarify... the judge who based her judgement on the Koran got suspended and apologized afterwards. There is NO excuse and even islamic/muslim speakers in Germany said that this is not islamic law...

The judge was just plain wrong and was punished for it by loosing the job. Hope this will teach other judges...
