Our youngest graduates from college!!!!
Yesterday marked a special day in the Wilson household as the youngest of our combined children graduated from college.
What a great kid he is. Even though I inherited him when I married Kevin, I couldn't be more proud. Matt made it through college on a football scholarship. (Thank you Matthew)![]() Uncle Matt and Ally last fall. His five years at Western have flown by. I speak for Kevin in saying that he is probably the best child any one parent could hope for. Kevin and Matt's mother have done a fantastic job in raising such a wonderful man. I feel very lucky that I get to share in the joy. Here are a few pictures from yesterday. ![]() Matt going to get his diploma (sorry, the lighting was bad). We were one of the loudest families there. Can you imagine?? ![]() Immediately after graduation with his friend Kelly, whom he had also gone to high school with. ![]() ![]() Matt and his very proud dad ![]() Kev, Matt and me ![]() Matt and both his parents. Kevin and Diane. ![]() Matt and his mom ![]() Matt, his girlfriend of 7 years, Allison (next post is probably the engagement) ![]() Matt, Diane and his little brother Chris (from his mom's 2nd marriage) And just a few more. ![]() ![]() ![]() It was such a great day. I consider myself to be so lucky. So many people complain about their spouses exes. I couldn't have hand picked a better one if I had tried. Kevin did very well the first time around. Matt was lucky to have two great parents who loved him and worked together to raise a great kid. And I'm so lucky to get to be part of it!!! Thanks for sharing in our joy.

What a wonderful post by my beautiful wife. I'm humbled, and so lucky to have a wife that puts up with me warts and all... and looks hot doing it.
But this is about my son...and my ex. As Jami had intimated, my ex-wife Diane and I, since divorcing have had a relationship built on respect and understanding revolving around our son. Our relationship, watching him grow up has evolved and matured. I have a great time just talking with her, and not just about Matt...but about our lives. It sounds goofy, but I can't imagine a better ex-wife. Matt on the other hand has been a little sh*t. Just kidding. Jami has already mentioned her take on him. For a long time my whole life revolved around him (my ex and I divorced when he was two and a half). He has brought so much love, joy and pride into my life. They say that the apple doesn't fall from the tree. Well this apple got picked up and deposited in the next county. Matt has always been a smart focused kid that also knew how to nurture friendships and have fun. I just went out and had fun with my friends. College was a bit more of a challenge, juggling football, studies and work. But damn if he didn't pull it off. I know this is rambling, but I could go on all day about Matt. I'm so looking forward to being by his side as he enjoys the world and all thats out there. Oh and...Jami your the best. Last edited by Kebin : 03-26-2007 at 09:40 AM. |
