600,000 + Iraqi casualties ?
I just read a report on BBC news about Iraqi casualties. If true, this is horrific news. It equates to an average of 500 per day since the invasion began....

One thing we might consider, one of the objectives of the invasion was to achieve the overthrow of Saddam who was brutalising the people ( I think we would all agree to this?). We have unleased a situation that far exceeds the worst figures on his gas attacks and it isnt close to being over. |

I can hardly bear to read anything more about Iraq -- my heart breaks to think of the people living -- or just trying to stay alive -- there. I'm not religious, but I still send my silent, insignificant little hopes for peace and safety to the people of Iraq every day. |

Having just read THE END OF IRAQ by Peter Galbraith, I concur that the only answer is to petition the place, There is no one "Iraqi people" - never really has been.
