What's your first..
Recollection as a child? Just watched the coronation of Queen Elizabeth on PBS and remembered I was there as a young child. Too young to remember but I do remember coming into New York harbour- and seeing the Statue of Liberty coming out of the fog as we arrived on the Queen Mary . What's yours?

I was in St. Mary's Hospital.
A Catholic Benedictine Sisters run hospital. I was approximately 18 months old and vividly remember being in the "crib/bed" with a hood of some sort (I think was to keep me in there, but it may have been some sort of oxygen tent). I also remember the drive to the hospital. I've had very good recollection of most everything since then, that wasn't hampered by a self-inflicted memory issue....

Wow, that's young, Cuff!
I remember sitting on a swing... it was one of those U-shaped flexible swing seats...and gravel... so a public park... and there was a tree to the side... and I'm facing a chain link fence when on the swing... and my mom was pregnant... When I described it to my mom, she said that it was a park in St. Louis where she took my sister and me when she was pg with my brother... so if she was visibly pregnant, then I was 2-1/2 ish....

I remember when my mom and dad picked me up from Grandma and Grandpa's house. And my mom was holding a pink and white blanket...and in it was my little sister. We were inside a big black car, and my mom said, "Look, this is your new little sister." When she tells the story, she says I said, "nice kitty." But what I remember saying was, "I wanted a kitty."

Going to see my Mom in the hospital when my Brother was born. He had been airlifted to Vancouver so I didn't see him but I remember my Mom giving me a roll of Lifesavers candy out of her bedside table. I was 2 years 3 months...
I also recall looking through my crib rails & seeing my parents cat Sugar...A big white fluffy persian...I don't know how old I was. |

I remember standing up in my crib and leaning over the railing and seeing my brown and white cocker laying next to the crib. The next thing, I was on top of him. My mom used to tell this story a lot because I was about 15 months old then. I learned to walk when I was 9 months old and could climb by the time I was 1 year old. At 1 and a half I went out in the yard, went and sat down in the goldfish pond and proceeded to try and catch the fish. I remember doing this! I also loved to climb over the chain link fence. I remember climbing over the fence at about 2 and half years old and then knocking on my neighbor's back door.

i remember my grand parents..i lived with them for awhile in mexico..i remember the house.. the chickens.. and the pulpee from maguay plants...and how much they loved me....that was 45 years plus ago..but how come i cant remember where i left the damn keys!!!!??????

I believe I was 2ish, I remember it was winter and Mom was going to the neighbor's to play cards. She laid me on the floor and wrapped me up in a blanket like a baby and carried me across the street.
I was thinking about this the other day, not the memory itself, but how something seemingly insignificant from your past can stick out so vividly in your memory yet, as Syl says...you can't remember where you put your keys.

We were living in Wisconsin and I was watching my brothers play in the snow and my mother would not let me go outside becuase she said it was to cold.
 I also remember getting a little play stove and refrigerator for Christmas (2 years old) - my brothers got cool electric trains and race cars. Again I was ripped off !!!!

I remember falling down the basement stairs, slipping between (you know, those steps that have no riser?) and landing in a big stack of empty pop bottles in crates. I think I was about 1.5 yrs old. I also remember hiding under the bed in the basement that same summer because of tornadoes - the mattress was on a piece of plywood on legs and the carpet was sky blue shag. I can remember going back up the stairs and my mom was at the sink opening up a can of apple juice for me - she yelled at me to go back under the bed and then I cried
