Get some equipment out there- you can at least clear out in front of the accident. Something similar happened around Boston at rush hour a couple of years ago. Storm came in quicker than predicted, equipment wasn't out, and traffic was totally stopped. ALL of the roads were jammed with motorists and fender-benders. It didn't take 15 hours to fix the problem- more like 4 or 5. I think there must be some information missing from the article, because it really shouldn't have taken that long to clear up.

There wasn't an accident. The large transport trucks couldn't make the hills so they had to stop- that simply backed up traffic- which didn't allow the plows to clear the road until this morning. I drove from Halifax last night and it wasn't pleasant. Traction wasn't the problem, but visibility was poor. Took me about an hour longer than usual. Transport Minister has promised a full investigation and new procedures so this doesn't happen again. Still unacceptable. |

We were in Charleston, SC for the majority of the week. I had a conference to attend so Sandy tagged along. On Thursday, we had the chance to walk around the city...using a "walking tour" guide book, we wandered about taking in the history. Absolutely beautiful city. Here's a slide show and a couple of my favorite shots.
