So happy to see this thread taking off! I just love seeing photos of other places, other people...

CHAR: You make me miss those simple summer days when the kids were young and just a trip to the backyard held so much interest, and laughter, and learning.

Scott: Great photos, your new 'do looks good! Great photos of the river, looks like a lot of fun.

jflattracker: We once had one of those 'goats' come running full tilt, head down, at our rental car....John had it in reverse as quick as he could and drove reverse being chased by this goat for a ways down the road before the goat gave up!

Tesla: Nice to see NO back to her old self again!

Andiline: I think I have to make our next with-kids trip over to there....it's a photographers dream, looks like!!

Keep 'em coming, everyone!

Great pictures Ginger!

I am not posting any pics of here in Saskatchewan....this is the ugliest time of year here...there is still dirty piles of ice/snow/gravel lying everywhere, the streets are filthy, there is garbage all over the place from winters that hasn't been cleaned up yet, everything is grey and gloomy. Of course, they HAD to have the Junos here this past weekend, wonderful timing.

We went on a little 7 mile hike yesterday. This is in the Santa Monica mountains about 45 minutes from our house

Picture of the mountain we were about to climb.

And another from the "trail" head

Near the top

Next to the short trail to the peak.
Guess what rock Sandstone Peak is not.
Little hint, it is not S..dstone.
It is actually weathered Rhyolite.
Let the government think, and mistakes happen.

After reaching the peak, we hiked into this area

And down this trail

The car, about 1100 feet down and 2.5 miles ago.

Bonny likes the colors on the hillside

Some kind of wildflower (Bonny knows, ask her)

Balance Rock

It was a nice day.

The purple flowers are blue delphinium, Blue Larkspur (one of my favorite flowers)....it was kind of windy, and the pictures are blurry...I apologize.... The white ones are popcorn flowers. The pink ones at the top of the mountain are prickly phlox...one has to be very careful around it--it is prickly ...
And the colors behind me in one of the pix are Mountain Lilac (purple/blue), Red bud (rust color) and Sagebrush (bright green). The picture doesn't do the colors justice...
What a beautiful, beautiful day!

I think I have some purple ones coming up in my wildflower plot....I seeded them in 2004 and 2005, but didn't really see any germination the first two seasons,

Cool...
In those same mountains...we also have the Scarlet Delphinium later on in summer. They grow about 2-5 miles east of the blue ones, and can be about 5-6 feet tall.

The Humboldt lilies weren't blooming yet. They grow to be about 6-7 ft tall and look like tiger lilies. I think they are my all-time favorite wildflower....
Not the best picture....but you get the idea...(there are better ones with a Google image search but they are copyright protected)

Well...it wasn't from today, but from this weekend

Great thread Ginger!

Here are a couple from this weekend.

This one is of a Northern Mockingbird mother who we've noticed in one of our trees in her nest, diligently laying on her eggs over the last couple of weeks (I'm assuming there are eggs there ) She (or her husband) are on that nest around the clock...it's pretty cute

We finally had a beautiful day after a gray and dreary week, so my husband set up an area for me to lay out in our back yard

Just another day at the office, so really nothing special, but last weekend I bought some flowers to cheer the house up a lil' and this is what they look like:

Guess which country I live?

I hope I'll find the time next weekend to go out and wander through the bulb fields. I'ts the prettiest time of the year right now.
