Honeymoon in PDC...suggestions

Hi All!

We are getting married in July and have thought that PDC would be a great place for our honeymoon. It's a bit confusing with all the choices and marketing material in which each claims to offer the best...so we'd love to hear from you about the various AI resorts in the area. What's the best of the best and the worst of the worst!

Thanks and Cheers.

playadelcarmen resorts

My husband and I love this area of Mexico. We've travelled extensively throughout the country and found the resorts, beaches and the people in this area to be superb. Any of the Spanish chain of resorts ie. Riu, Iberostar, Palace resorts are always 5 star accomodations. The food is fantastic as well as the drinks that usually go along with them. From Playa del Carmen you can take the ferry over to Cozumel which is only a 30 minute ride and from there enjoy the island. You can rent a car or mopeds and safely and easily travel around the island in an hour. Incredible beaches there as well as snorkelling. The mayan ruins are incredible to visit as well a Xel-Ha ecological water park. Awesome snorkelling there if you are into it. I believe on Saturdays in Cozumel they have a big fiesta street party, lots of fun to attend. Shopping is ok in town. Cheap liquor but you need to know your prices for jewellery. If you have any other questions you can email me at murphyds@hotmail.com.
We are actually leaving for there next week, the 20th of April and we are staying at the Fiesta Grande resort. This is a new resort and of course is a spanish chain of resorts. They are offering incredible introductory prices to get people through the resort. I believe it is also called the Colonial Grande depending on what tour company you book through. Have heard from many that it is great.

Honeymoon in PDC

Thanks for the info. Has anyone stayed at the Occidental Royal Hideaway? Is it too big? Any info would be great, good or bad.

Thanks.

If you do a search (look on top right of the screen for search button) for Royal Hideaway, you'll find tons of info and reviews. I think it is a big resort, but I've only heard good things about it.

We've stayed at several resorts in the area and the Royal Hideaway was our favorite...It's actually one of the smaller resorts in Playacar, 200 rooms...The food and service are great!!!...It's really a very special place!...You won't go wrong if you choose RH!!!...
Second to RH, IMO, is the Riu Palace which is less expensive but still has an elegant ambiance...

If all inclusives are what you want. I'd rate them like this

1. Royal Hideaway
2. Aventura Spa Palace
3. Riu Palace

The RH is smaller and more romantic than the others, and you're not forced to eat at buffets. The restaurants, beach, rooms and service are the best we ever had anywhere in Mexico, and we've been all over.

One of these days, I'm going to get my pictures up from 5 months ago. I've got over 170 pics of the Royal Hideaway, Tulum, Downtown PDC and other spots. Geez, time flies when you're NOT having fun!
