Hello from the Rockies
Hi, I'm from Steamboat Springs, CO, going to Playa for the 3rd time May 4 - 18th. Traveling solo for the 1st time there. Can't wait. I'm craving ocean, palm trees, relaxation.

Hola! I'm a former Cali beach girl too! (South Pasadena High, Pasadena City College, Cal State LA, but then lived for years on Long Beach before moving to Kauai for 9 years, now in the Rockies for 11 years).
Too much winter for me! My sons are snowboard fanatics, so that's kept me here, but now they are both done with school and working full time. So maybe, as beautiful as this town is, and as nice as the people are, I can consider moving to a more amiable climate. Miss the beach, the smell of the ocean, being able to run around barefooted all year long, gardening WHENEVER. You know??? |

I am a Housing Price Refugee from Fullerton but I moved one state over from the rest of you. My grandparents lived in Pasadena. A family friend owned a house on the Balboa peninsula, about D street and we used to go there a lot.
Send us some snow! And tell those Midwesterners & Canadians to stop stealing our snow! Some of our resorts are closing early & now I have to do yardwork. Playa reminds me of Park City, which I've heard is similar to Steamboat Springs. |

Snow report
You can have it all! Actually, it's melting fast! Yippee! Only 9 more days of ski season. Working for orthopaedic surgeons, the end of ski season is a big relief. Breathing space, you know? Not to mention, the possibility of time off = beach = Playa! Yeah, baby...
Last year I stayed at the Eclipse - great location, excellent price. They have one room, the one we booked, that has its own private stairway entrance and a terrace with a view of 5th - always interesting. I highly recommend it - EXCEPT we were charge more than price reserved once we arrived, and Matias, the main front desk guy owed us change from our payment, was never around when we went to get it, and then when we finally found him a few days before our departure, he said it was "too late" for us to get the change back. It was only about $10, but still kind of cheesy in attitude. This time, I found a beautiful condo at mexicancaribbeancondos.com - Las Palmas, "Palma Canaria". Going solo this time, too. Which means - I can do exactly what I want whenever I want! |

Thanks for the tip, Cyndy.
Like most people who live in Utah, we have little kids. So we were going to look into condos for the next time we go, for more privacy. So it would be great if you could post a trip report with lots of pictures! |
