Royal in October!
Hi Everyone,
Im booking a trip to the Royal sometime in October. Just wondering if anyone knows what the weathers like down there around then. Im a little worried because its still in Hurricane season. Well if anyone knows a good time to go in Oct either beginning or end let me know! ![]() |

We'll be there in Oct. as well. I wouldn't worry about the weather. It's our favorite time to go! Weather is nice and warm-so are the ocean and pools, but think the season scares people away, so there are less crowds and it's cheaper!
When we've been there-we were "supposed" to get rain (actually once a hurricane was supposed to hit according to the weather channel!) and all we got was a couple afternoon showers. Very rarely does a major hurricane make a direct impact. Unfortunately, it did happen recently and I think that more people are worried about it now. We bought the insurance as peace of mind. Don't know that there's a big change between the beginning and end of the month. We'll be there towards the beginning. |

I find Oct to be Hotter, more Humid and less Windy then when we where there 3 weeks ago.
I found myself getting a bit of a chill when first leaving the pool with the wind blowing at 100 miles per hour! ![]() Cheers |

We stayed in Cancun Nov 2000, Playa del Carmen Nov 2004, Playa del Carmen April 2006, the dates in Nov were around the 10th of the month, before the week of Thanksgiving for sure. The weather was great all week except for shower to the airport in 2000, short shower Wed am Nov 2004. Last April 29 weather was great all week.
Our only problem was when we booked Playa del Carmen for Oct 29, 2005. As hurricane Wilma showed up and all flights to Cancun were cancelled(Continental)as they were still getting people out of Mexico. We did have cancellation insurance for any reason, therefore our travel agent took care of all matters, and we ended up going to San Jose del Cabo, Mexico Nov 2005.It was also beautiful, but we did miss Playa so much.We met two other couples that also had to rebook because of Wilma. So us 3 couples hung out by the pool all week, and bar in the evening. Stayed at Crowne Plaza which was nice. So I would advise to get insurance just in case. As you can see we are now doing the April to April, instead of the Nov to Nov. Both months, the weather is very nice. |
