Concierge Health Care
Our state (Wash) is considering a program where you would pay a set amount each month and then would recieve care from a DR. with no payment. Basic very private health insurance. You pay an amount based on your application and would be able to go to your Dr for routine stuff and not be billed. This would not cover the reaaly bad stuff and you would not be able to use insurance for meds. I see many problems with this such as Drs. "cherry picking " healthy customers. They are talking premiums at a range of $50 nto $250 per month. I think this is just a Casino approach to ones health care. If you stay healthy it is an ok thing but one bad day and you will be up a creek with no paddle. Health insurance is a huge amount out of my check each month but I sleep better knowing that if something happens I am mostly covered. The doctors want this as it shortens their patient caseload and elimantates the insurance middleman.

Wow this strikes me as very strange. While I am in favor of cutting out the insurance company the suggested pricing for what would seem to be mostly preventative medicine seem very high indeed. I'm assuming that most people don't go to their doctor every month. I do think it is another symptom that we have a health care system badly in need of overhaul.
I found a link with some details: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/htm...ierge15m0.html |
