If you've been around very long, you'll likely be aware I'm a pin collector. The major portion of the several thousand pins I have in my collection are from Hard Rock Cafes, but I also have hundreds of others besides. I thoroughly enjoy the hobby, and pins are my life.....along with a few other things, of course. A couple of years back, Mrs. B and I decided we would create a Bumpers pin for us to hand out as a remembrance to our Playa Peep family during our annual stay in Mexico. We did it for fun, and it was very well received by everyone. So, the next year we came up with a new design, and did so again for our most recent trip last February. There are only 100 of each pin produced, and there will never be any more of each design. My personal favourite is the first one we produced, but Mrs. B says she likes the second design better, and we've had several people say the latest one is their preference. The three pins are shown below;
Mark I Mark II Mark III Though custom made, unique, and pretty decent quality, these pins don't cost us a lot of money. But they're not free to the recipient. Like the Hope Diamond, or the treasure of King Tut, they come with a curse. You have to endure the dreaded "Bumper Hug" to receive your pin. (Be afraid...be very afraid!) However, most folks seem to be able to steel themselves to withstand the ordeal, because the price is generally paid, and the hardware goes pretty fast. As far as I know, we have yet to have anyone require emergency medical attention from the horrific experience, though some claim to have been psychologically scarred for life. Anyway, as you may be aware, Mrs. B and I were regrettably compelled to cut our planned four-week stay in Playa in half this year, so we were unable to handle the doling out of the Bumpers pins as we had anticipated at various events, like Peepstock. Our great friends, YWG Don & Deb, stepped into the breach in our absence, and did an exceptional job of standing in for us, on the distribution side. However, despite their Herculean efforts on our behalf to dump this junk jewelry, we have three Bumpers pins - Mark III, which have gone unclaimed. This will never do. The Mark I and Mark II issues are obviously all long gone (and probably forgotten, in most cases), but we still have these three orphan third editions to dispose of. So, if you would like the third version of a Bumper pin, you are invited to post your request here. Remember, we generally only issue one per household, so if your significant other already has one, we'd appreciate it if you'd leave them for others who haven't been burdened with one yet. In the unlikely circumstance that we receive more than three people keen on adding one of these tacky bits of enameled metal to their junk drawer, we'll have a random draw to see who the lucky "Winners" are. We'll give you until next Sunday, April 22nd at noon, to express an interest, then we'll make the draw. WARNING - If mailing to Mexico is required.....it ain't going to happen! We'll have to make arrangements for the package to go somewhere in the US or Canada for "muling" to Playa. Oh, by the way.....you'll still owe us the Bumper hug.....and we've got a memory like a ephelant, and we ALWAYS collect!!.

Well, I still owe ya' for a Mark III, but I like my Bumper hugs so much I was wondering how I was going to get more than one. I think each increase in Mark should be an increase in hug alottment...therefore Mark III should mean 3 Bumper hugs!!

Well I'll toss our hat into the ring for a Bumper III pin!
We'd love to meet you someday and have had many laughs while reading your posts on this forum. If you need someone to mule in May, we'd be happy to help!
