We'll be staying at La Tortuga. This is our first time so we don't know exactly what to expect. I've been to Cancun before and I'm not really into the tours. I'd rather venture out.

Welcome to the forum from another southern californian. Im sure you will have a wonderful trip no matter what you do. My husband and I went down for our honeymoon and loved it. What kind of things are you looking to do?

and welcome to the forum. Congratulations! You have a great trip ahead of you. You can do whatever type of things you like. We typically stay onthe beach during the day at Kool Beach Club and stroll 5th Ave in the evenings for dinner, shopping and drinks. Surf around this forum and read about all of the great things in Playa. Hint-read some of the trip reports because they have great information. You're going to have a great time!

Welcome!

La Tortuga is absolutely gorgeous...I can't imagine not loving your stay there!! Beautiful pool and wonderful restaurant

I would suggest reading a few trip reports..there have many great ones over the last couple of months...and get some ideas on restaurants, places to go, things to do. And try using the search function tab to look up specific places, etc. Click it and then use the "advanced" option..you'll get better results.

Also if you haven't done so, go to mapchick.com to get your map of the area...it's THE BEST guide for a newbie...actually I get a new one every year

My best advice would be go to Playa, lay on the beach, drink a few cold beverages, get out and explore at least once and go with the flow. OH! and write a trip report when you get back. Have a great time!
