Playacar beach update 04/18/07

Just got off of the phone with my brother who is currently staying at the RIU Playacar as of 04/18/2007. Here is a playacar beach report from north to south.
The Reef Playacar, Riu Palace Riveria Maya ( the new hotel), Wyndam Azteca, Allegro Playacar, Royal Hideaway, all their beaches not in good shape at all; in fact he used the word horrible.

Riu Playacar, Wyndham Viva Maya, Riu Palace, he said were usuable but not great by any means.

Riu Yucatan-Pretty good

Iberostar Quetzal and Tucan-excellent

Sandos Gala-excellent

He also went on to say the beaches north of the fairy dock were in awesome shape. That was as far north as he had made it this morning.

He did also mention that the beer was really cold!!!

Hope this helps...

Thanks for the update. I hope the Riu Palace is still useable in 5 weeks.

After looking at those pics posted by MarkinPA yesterday it doesn't look very promising. Just in case, you better take your mountain climbing boots with you to get down to and up from the beach. Thankfully I still have until September before making the decision to return or go elsewhere end of Nov.

Where are those pictures posted? I'm worried. Don't make me spend more time in pool bar.

With all that said, the beaches still look a whole lot more inviting then they do here in Seattle right now.

Actually, I agree. We are seeing the sun today in New England for the first time in it seems like forever. We've had so much rain this past week, I felt I was in Seattle. (beautiful city, I've been there twice).

None of those pics are of the Riu Palace Riviera Maya. They are as labeled.

I was born and raised on Cape Cod so I know how those winters can be.
Seattle is a beautiful city, once I got here I knew I was here to stay.

Sandos bound in 3 days:-) Glad to hear that their beach is in good shape. We usually go the Riu Palace though and it is a shame to see what is happening there. Thanks for the update!
