when i check in online 48 hours beforehand, will there be a map of the rooms or just room numbers to pick from?

I wonder if they have the online check-in at the GPR across the street, since they are part of the same properties. We are going back for the second time and it would be wonderful to pick out your room.

No they don't. It's only available to those that book the "Royal ocean view jr. suites" room category and above at the RPDC.

You can "check-in" for any class of room (register with credit card), but with the Royal's room you have the option to pick a room.
