Hi new here and need your help.....

My family has always done the Cruising thing so this year we decided to do an all inlcusive for the winter break of 08. We are a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 kids ages 14 and 16. I have read that playa del carmen has some great all inclusives. However,I really don't even know where to begin to look. I have read that the lberostar is nice however very $$$$!! Is there a place that is just as nice and not as expensive?

thanks
cheryl

...we adore the riu yucatan...many folks like the riu tequila for a bit less money...also very kid friendly...lots of activities...it isn't on the beach, but you have beach access at the riu yucatan...we're heading back to the yucatan for our third stay next month, and we've stayed at the riu palace mexico...i'd be happy to answer any questions, just let me know!...

number of good and reasonable (riu, iberostar plus others) ai in playacar which in next to playa del carmen. this would allow you to walk or taxi ($5US) into town without much cost. good shopping and dining in playa when you need a night or day out of the resort.

Hi Cheryl, If you haven't visted Tripadvisor yet it's a good place to search resorts. You can type Playa Del Carmen in the search box and the left hand side will list the resorts and then you can read reviews and get an idea of the price.

We have kids in the same age range as yours and they loved the Iberostar Tucan. I have also been to the Barcelo Maya and liked it alot as well, fairly comparable to the Tucan, service being the main difference (better at the Tucan), but nothing bad enough to make me not want to return. You might find the Barcelo pretty big if you want to give your kids the freedom to venture out on their own. It has doubled in size since we went there and I found it big before that. The Tucan was the perfect size for us, kids had the freedom and we didn't worry too much about where they were, always easy to find them. Our kids participated in some of the activities, but mostly just wanted to be in the ocean and pool.

Forgot to mention, the Barcelo would be great for the teens in that you can snorkel right at the resort, Tucan does not have that.
