Catalonia Riveria Maya

Can someone tell me what section of villas at the Catalonia would be close to the pool and buffets, I have a problem walking real far and thought I would like to request a room close to everything, and where is the theater located, I haven't seen a close up view of the property to tell where things are located, and can you e-mail them and request a room? Thanks in advance. Linda

Here is a link to a map of the rooms.

www.aplusnetworks.ca/images/Catalonia_Map.jpg

The resort is small..... so all the rooms are close to everything - not a far walk to get to anything. Plus they have elevators.

We stayed on the Yucatan side last year and had a pool/ocean view.

They only have a small section of suites (all together) and they only have a frig in the suites, not the regular rooms (which are nice to - just kinda basic).

We are going back in June and I hope to get some nice pics of the suites...they sound really nice.

It is a great resort - we had a great time last year.

I posted a map in the other thread, you can check it out. Dont worry - the resort is the smallest All Inclusive I have ever been to and it is not a far walk to get to anything.

Yes you can email them, but it really does not do a whole lot of good in my opinion. They will change you to another room if you dont like the first one (or the second one) !!!

You can try, I put the email address in your other post. We did this last year and it really did not do any good, we did not like the first two rooms they gave us, but the third one was a charm !!! So if you dont like your room, it never hurts to ask for another !!!

Yes they are new to the resort. The are located behind building 9 on the CR side of the resort. The just have a garden view - no view to pools or oceans.

There should be some pics posted in a few weeks as different people are going. We are going back for a 2nd time in June.

Thanks Tappy - are you staying in the suites? From what I understand, there are two sections to the hotel and it seems to depend on the tour oeprator where you stay. What section do you prefer and why?

We are staying in the suites this time. We are going for a longer period of time (9 days) and have the kiddo with us, so it will just give us more room. But the regular rooms are fine as well.

There are two sections - The Riveria side and the Yucatan side. We were booked to stay in the Riveria side last year, but moved to the Yucatan side to get a pool/ocean view. The resort is really small so it really does not matter which side you stay in, but some rooms have better views than others. They are pretty good about moving you if you dont like where your room in.

Suites

We just returned from 8 wonderful days at the Catalonia Riviera Maya 5/10-5/17. All I can say is WOW!! This resort is just fantastic! There are suites on both sides of the resort (Riviera Maya and Yucatan). There are also brand new suites on the Riviera Maya side which have just opened and will be our choice next time we return. The new suites offer a private lanai with a jacuzzi. Separate living room and bedrooms with a flat screen TV in each. A full marble bath with a large standup shower. These suites are top notch and better than the older suites. The only draw back is they do not have a beach view but on the other hand they are extremely quiet and secluded from the rest of the rooms(no people moving about at all times of the evening). I took pics of the new suites and will try to post later when I get everything downloaded into a trip report. TAPPY ,we had a fantastic time and can't wait to return.

We just love the CAT, it may be an AI resort, but it sure does not have the "feel" of an AI resort !!!

Whoo Hoo - I cant wait....

Catalonia Riveria Maya

Can anyone tell me if the new suites have ocean view or just garden view, and what would be the best rooms to request for a standard room. I also have read mixed reviews on the drinks served at this hotel, do they offer anything like international drinks? (Beefeaters, CC or absolute? Any information you can provide me with would be of great help. Thanks

We went last year and are going again in 4 more days.
We love the resort - it is the only one we have gone back to a 2nd time.
The food and drinks are great - typical AI type fare, but still very good.
