Our Trip to British Columbia and other points

This is a pre-trip start

We depart on Thursday morning. We will drive from Portland to Port Angeles and take this ferry:

Should get to Victoria by 4:00 pm, and will check in at the Laurel Point Inn, very close to where the Coho docks in the Inner Harbour.

Have stayed at this hotel before, the Empress, but not this time

Staying here this time, the Laurel Point Inn, which is, I am told, the building in the foreground of the next photo:

After spending Thursday and Friday night there, we will go to the Butchart Gardens on the way to the next ferry boat, which will take us near Ginger and John's house, which will be our next stop.

Ron

Ron, Victoria is going to be BEAUTIFUL at this time of year, lots of tulips, daffodils, etc. GREAT time to go there.

The Laurel Point Inn is second only to the Empress. It is a beautiful hotel, well managed and GREAT location. Walking distance to all the Inner Harbour attractions.

Looking forward to seeing you guys!

Ron I'd tell you to try to come up North to the interior, but I can't think of one good reason why!!

JK, it's nice out in the wilderness here, lots of good fishing, big hairy varmints to shoot, gut, and cook their meat on a fire pit!

Hmmm, think I gotta bbq this weekend!!

Victoria is a great city, Ron. From where you're staying, it's a very short and pretty walk around the Inner Harbour to Spinnaker's Brew Pub. The food there is nothing special, but the location is great - try for the balcony on the second floor - and they have a wide variety of delicious beer to sample. A great way to spend a sunny afternoon.

Thanks Bumper! We're walking out the door in about 90 minutes to drive up to Port Angeles. Friday I'll be in an all-day meeting (oh joy), but after that it is vacation time. Spinnaker's it is.

Arrived Yesterday after a pleasant drive and ferry ride. Weather was near perfect. Checked in, walked around the Inner Harbour, found a wine store - sheesh, how do you'se afford to drink wine around here - I guess the nearly free health care helps with the expenses, but $14 canadian for bottle of YellowTail.

Ate at a nice Greek place on Dougals, Millos. Had roast lamb, very good. After dinner tried a glass of retsina - a new flavor for me. The server said they had the mildest available and I felt cheated - it did not taste near as bad as it reputation. I asked her if they had a stronger variety, but they did not, saving my taste buds, I am told.

Did not bring the camera cable, so our photos will have to wait till our return, but The view of the Inner Harbour from our room is stunning!! Here are a couple from other web sites

This wee building is a couple of blocks from our hotel

Yah, the weather is great, you couldn't have picked a better time to come.

I grew up in Victoria, it is a beautiful city to visit. I can't wait to see your pics. Ron, is this your first time there? I hope you'll do the Dallas Road tour in your car...it's a beautiful drive along the water right from your hotel, all the way around past Beacon Hill Park, and on into Fairfield and Oak Bay.
