mother's day 2007
Okay I found a thread about Mother's Day for last year but decided to start one for this year. Anybody have something they are planning to do for the Moms in their life? Any Moms who have something that they would really like for Mother's Day?
Last Year I went all out for Mother's Day, but this year too many things kept me from doing it and this year I kind of want to enjoy my Day. I did so mcuh stuff and hosted a lunch that I seemed to work straight through mothers day but Everyone i did it for was happy so it was worth it. But this year I want to relax a little. So I think that I'm going to get the Stepping Stone that you can make(from Michaels) for the boys to make for their Grandmas' and maybe some of the tiles that you decorate and frame for them to make for everyone else.(Grandmas' are the only ones with places to use the stepping stones). |

I'm still "homesick" for Paris, so I have asked for French pastries for breakfast, French cheeses and bread and wine for lunch ...
we'll probably drive down to bring dessert to my mom. Rent a couple of French films to watch at night. |

I cooked dinner for my Mom last Sunday (we did China, candles, champagne, all the hoop-la) and we gave her mothers day gifts. My brother always has a brunch or something at his house on Sunday.
The gift of time with you is really the best gift of all - getting a manicure or going out to lunch is the best gift !!! Flowers are nice to !!! just because ! Some one sent me this story today in email - thought it was kinda funny. Mothers Day story - kids and the cat!!! So, we had this great 10 year old cat named Jack who just recently died. Jack was a great cat and the kids would carry him around and sit on him and nothing ever bothered him. He used to hang out and nap all day long on this mat in our bathroom. Well we have 3 kids and at the time of this story they were 4 years old, 3 years old and 1 year old. The middle one is Eli. Eli really loves chapstick. LOVES it. He kept asking to use my chapstick and then losing it. So finally one day I showed him where in the bathroom I keep my chapstick and how he could use it whenever he wanted to but he needed to put it right back in the drawer when he was done. Last year on Mother's Day, we were having the typical rush around and try to get ready for Church with everyone crying and carrying on. My two boys are fighting over the toy in the cereal box. I am trying to nurse my little one at the same time I am put ting on my make-up. Everything is a mess and everyone has long forgotten that this is a wonderful day to honor me and the amazing job that is motherhood. We finally have the older one and and the baby loaded in the car and I am looking for Eli. I have searched everywhere and I finally round the corner to go into the bathroom. And there was Eli. He was applying my chapstick very carefully to Jack's . . . rear end. Eli looked right into my eyes and said "chapped." Now if you have a cat, you know that he is right--their little butts do look pretty chapped. And, frankly, Jack didn't seem to mind. And the only question to really ask at that point was whether it was the FIRST time Eli had done that to the cat's behind or the hundredth. And THAT is my favorite Mother's Day moment ever because it reminds us that no matter how hard we try to civilize these glorious little creatures, there will always be that day when you realize they've been using your chapstick on the cat's butt. |

Well we only have my MIL left, my mom passed away a couple of years ago. So anyway, we are going to my hubby's cousin's house w/MIL in tow. The men/boys are going to fix us all dinner.
Probably give my MIL some sort of flower. I don't really want anything, just having my family around is enough for me

It's my birthday on Mother's day.
Last year it was the day before. We went to Vegas. My mother-in-law passed away while we were there, ON my birthday. This year Roni and Kathy will be at our place! We won't have a big bru-ha-ha, though. I'm usually fairly disappointed on Mom's Day, so I don't expect much anymore.

Nothing special planned, as both my mom and David's have passed on. 1994 for his and 1997 for mine.
Maybe I'll ask Eli and Sophie to make pancakes for me that morning. I'm pretty sure they won't mind. ![]() P.S. Tappy.... Thanks so much for that chapstick story. I'm gonna remember that one to tell my friends!!! |

I'm just hoping for Mother's Day, Monte will not slobber, fart, or belch in bed.
My mom is usually here in Dallas either for Easter or Mother's Day. This year she won't be I'm sad about this because I like making it a special day for her. She doesn't want material things, she doesn't want me to spend money on flowers, so I always surprise her with a massage, facial or some kind of spa day or mother daughter brunch. This year I sent her a card and I will wait patiently till she arrives next month and surprise her with a late mothers day I miss her

My wife is leaving me tomorrow. She and our oldest two daughters are flying to San Francisco to meet our youngest daughter for a few days in Wine Country.
I'll take my Mom to lunch at TGIFridays. She has Alzheimers and probably won't remember it happened, but I'll feel good about it and she'll enjoy the shrimp.

Well it sounds like your wife will have a very nice mothers day with her daughters
Your mom may not remember it but you will. Enjoy your special time with her Quote:

I am driving 350 miles to see my mom. We are mostly going to be gardening - that is our tradition. My mom is then having her mom and her sisters and their families over for dinner abd I am cooking. I am making mexican - just got the enchiladas ready and popped the whole pan on the freezer, ready to cook on Saturday night. |
