Occidental Allegro Playacar - room ?'s

I am going to stay at the Occidental Allegro Playacar in July. I am trying to find out information about the rooms. It seems to be a nice resort with a great beach, which is one of my main concerns. I am also really concerned about the rooms. Please give me any information that you may have. The website pictures aren't very telling.

Thanks,

Allegro

Hi there, listen I don't want to bring you down, but...
I have been taking my two children, (16 and 14 now, 14 and 12 then,) to Playa for the past six years. The one and only time we have tried an AI was with The Allegro. We were there 12 days. It was the worst of our six years stay. The rooms were in bad shape, and the staff just didn't care. I am not demanding, or annal. (sp?)

The pluming was a real problem, the food was also. All the AI drinks were rot gut...cheapest of any brand. Worst of all were the sales people every day, every minute, trying to sell time shares.

I could go on...if you have specific questions, feel free to write me. Playa is wonderful place...nothing like it. I hope and wish you a wonderful time.

Allegro rooms, etc.

We stayed at the Allegro last June and really enjoyed it. The rooms are small, but we found it adequate for the three of us (me, husband and 20 yr. old daughter). The only problem we had was a leaking air conditioner, and that was solved by putting a towel on the floor! We had a lower room near the quite pool. We loved using the hammock on the patio! We found the food at all the restaurants to be wonderful. There was plenty of variety at the buffet for all meals, and at the snack bar at the pool. The meals we had at both the Italian and Mexican restaurants were delicious, and would strongly advise you to try both (as many times as you can!). We did not find the drinks watered-down, and can't believe the number of people who complain about this. The beach is spectaclar as are the grounds. We tipped the maid $5. on our first day there, and we never wanted for anything. Our room was always clean, and we always had fresh towels, sometimes twice a day. I would recommend doing this. While we were there they had started renovating the rooms closest to the lobby. Perhaps by now they have finished with all the renovations. I, too, had read some terrible things about this hotel before we went, and was very worried. Just go and enjoy. We sure did!
