Just looking for any feedback on this Hotel. My wife and I are looking for 7 or 8 days to celebrate 20 years. Anybody?

Grand Porto Real

I visited this hotel last august with my 11 year old daughter. It was hot, but we like the heat! The hotel has beautiful views, pretty and clean rooms. The suites are beautiful, The beach is a bit rocky, but watching my daughter play all day in the water you wouldn't know it! I would recommend the Mayan Adventure tour, where you visit cenotes, beautiful lagoons, and an inlet that stretches as far as the eye can see, but is no more than about 8 feet deep a great experience. Playa is a great place. feel free to e mail me with anymore questions.

by the way, we wittnessed a couple being seranaded for their anniversery Hint!Hint!

toaster,
we just returned from 10 days at this hotel. it's beautiful. the jr. suites are spacious. we were beachside & had a fantastic view of the pool, beach, & town (looking south). we were treated wonderfully by the entire staff. the food is not bad...not gourmet, but I was able to find something I liked at every meal. the location is the BEST (IMO)...just a short walk from 5th Ave.
I would recommend that you not limit yourself to the restaraunts at the hotel...get out & experience some of the great food in Playa. a few of our favorites...Bip Bip, La Siesta, Karen's Pizza & Grill...there are MANY others. also, don't spend your entire time on 5th Ave. Playa has a lot to offer between the beach & 30th Ave.

Gran Porto Feedback

Listen to Blinks1babe and enjoy the variety of restaurants in PDC. My wife and stayed at the Gran Porto in January. We opted out of the all inclusive and ate at different restaurants each night. The location is centrally located and you can walk uptown or downtown with ease.
When you check in, ask the desk for an upper floor room. You'll really enjoy the view of the beach. (and avoid the noise from the pool area. )

I just wrote a trip report about the Gran Porto Real in the General section. We really loved it, make sure to eat at the Il Pescatore if you do go all-inclusive, it was really good.

I was there last September - great hotel, great location, great beach, so so buffet ...... you might be better off not getting an all inclusive and exploring 5th ave for food and drink.
