How official is a housing contract?
Right now I am renting an apartment in Playa. First I thought I have a good deal, but I got ripped of, it is way to expensive. Now I want to move. But I have a contract for 6 months, and signed my name in the big book of the notary. So now I would like to know, can I still terminate my rent or am I stuck with this for 6 months?

We had a tenant who signed a lease for nine months, and decided to go back to the states after 7 months. The only recourse we have is to keep his deposit, which is equal to one months rent. The lease was done through an attorney, and everything was legal. Anyway, I would guess that there really isn't anything they can do to you.

Check for an early termination penalty clause. Although it still may be the rest of the rental term!
Or talk to your landlord, they may release you early if they're feeling nice - but get this agreement in writing. Or they may agree to let you go if they find another tenant - but get this agreement in writing. Good luck. |
