rehearsal dinner

I am attending my best friend's wedding mid-june and they are looking for a good rehearsal dinner option for about 50 guests. I have used the search function and found three old posts.
They had reservations with Hotel Fusion but the establishment canceled them due to new managemement? They are considering ****** but from what I can gather reading the forums here that may be a dicey proposition.
Any ideas for an informal non-fancy meal/party?- their first choice would be a beach style option but would consider other options.

Check out Shangri la Caribe...I don't think you have to be staying there to rent some space for a dinner. The location couldn't be more beautiful.

i'm sure that playa maya would do it for you. some options off the beach would be carboncitos and ajua maya.

I think Carboncito's might be too small for 50 people, not sure.

For an informal beach dinner, it would be hard to beat La Tarraya, Calle 2 on the beach. Eat inside, on the deck, or tables in the sand with the water 50 feet away. One of the oldest restaurants in Playa with excellent food and very reasonable prices. Reserve in advance for a large party and perhaps arrange special hours.
