Resort Help...Riu, Moon, Xpu-Ha
Help!
My Girlfriend and I have been going back and forth for weeks. We can't pick a resort for our trip this May! We're Young and Active, enjoy the outdoors and like to have a good time. We are looking for a relaxing week, but at the same time, we don't want to get completely bored. Most important to us is a good mix...High Quality accomodations, a Great Beach and Good Food. I think we've narrowed it down to the Riu Palace, Moon Palace and Xpu-Ha Palace. Can anyone help us out? Are we missing anything? Also, the price that we are getting quoted for the Riu is much lower than the others...any ideas why? Thanks so Much! |

I havent been but we also spent alot of time researching which place we wanted to stay. I hear the palace is very europeon and as someone said it was for more of an older crowd not alot of fun. I could be wrong.. We went with its sister resort the riu playacar and we leave this weekend. I have
heard wonderfun things about the moon palace it was out of our range though.. I have also heard good things about xpu ha or something like that. Our # 1 choice was the Iberostar Tucan but the travel group we chose didn't offer them. Hope this helps I will now more after this week.. |

of those three, I'd take Riu Palace
of those three, I'd take Riu Palace - just because I like Playacar.
You have to think about whether you want to be in Playacar or not. Playacar has about 12 all inclusive resorts, about 10 on the beach, south of Playa del Carmen. I love to be able to walk a mile or so or take an easy bike ride into Playa del Carmen - I enjoy being at an all inclusive but sometimes I want to be in MEXICO. Also, many of these resorts are in the 200 to 400 room size range, which I like. I don't want to be at a 1000 room resort where I have to walk a mile from my room to the tennis courts. (Riu Palace has 434 rooms and it sure looks nice from the outside - haven't been inside, though.) Have you gone to www.cancunmap.com and gotten the Riviera Maya and Playa del Carmen map/guides? Theres a lot of STUFF on these. Maybe something there would help you decide. Good luck and I'm sure you will have a great time whichever you go to! I have no idea why Riu Palace is cheaper. I had heard that this was the most fancy of all the Riu resorts. Maybe it is just the most fancy of the three Riu resorts in Playacar. |
