Caipirinha

I found a new drink called Caipirinha's. This is a drink that is popular in Brazil and other areas of South America.

The drink is made with limes, some sugar, Cachaca and ice. Just cut 1 lime into 8 wedges and put it in a glass with about 1 - 2 teaspoons of sugar. You can use brown or white sugar. Muddle the limes with the sugar, pour about 2 ounces of Cachaca over the limes, add ice and stir.

Very refreshing and very good. Cachaca is distilled sugar cane juice.

You can also substitute vodka for the Cachaca and it is called a Caipiroshka.

Enjoy!

Thanks for posting this. There is a Brazilian restaraunt near me that serves these. Now I can make them at home. Yummers!

I started drinking something similar to that this last trip to Playa, but I think it was rum with the limes. Very good and very refreshing.

Yep, I've been enjoying those since I moved to Mexico 3 years ago. Yummy (and potent!)!

(Tough to find Cachaca down here though. )

I've had many nights with them. At the Churrascaria, which we have many close to me.

I grew up in Brasil watching these made - many bars there were family places.

They are good. Some places dilute them and make kinda of a caçacha margarita with them. That is not the real thing
