I like how in Top Chef they have a couple of hours to come up with creative, top of the line dishes...love that! It gets boring to watch Hell's Kitchen chefs try to cook the same dishes over and over and over again.

I think Ramsay's point is that is takes much more to be a chef than "just" cooking. With his sometimes seemingly mindless tasks, he is also looking for workers, managers, good under-fire types. His biggest point he makes to everyone is that consistency is the key to a good restaurant.
