What is the best dog for "woodchuck control", my next door neighbor has them in his yard but they have no garden!
I'm going to resort to a drastic measure this weekend. Bid rat traps ![]() ![]() ! BAM!

Ayla got into a fight with a woodchuck yesterday, she cornered it and they went at it. Once she got bit by the woodchuck she got really pissed and dispatched it very quickly.
![]() She was really proud of herself, as was I of her. She got a couple of small bites so I called our vet and he suggested we come right down and get her a booster rabies shot (though she is up to date) as they had a confirmed case of rabies in a woodchuck last week in my town. Lots of cookies for her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I had an infestation of coons several years ago. My wife wouldn't let me kill any of them so I trapped 16 in that many nights and relocated them after branding them with red spray paint. That way I knew they weren't coming back. My bait was marshmallows
Groundhogs love sweets also.

That was one of several, hopefully she has learned that they are bad and won't mess aroud with the next one.
I still need to get the adults, so I'm thinking a high power pelet gun. We have very strict gun laws here in Massachusetts and I'm not going to mess with that and my neighbors are too close (location wise) for gun shots. |

The solution recommended to me by a nearby sporting goods store was a "conabare" trap (not sure about spelling). You set the trap over the hole and whatever goes through it is a gonner! The only problem is disposal!
I have radically thinned out the population that feasted on my garden and highly recommend. They were less than $10 each. |

catch them like you catch polar bears. only problem is you'll need a pond that is frozen over.
you cut a hole in the ice and put a bunch of peas in the hole. you wait for the woodchuck/polar bear to come up and take a pea, then you kick them in the icehole. ![]() sorry...3rd grade joke |
