Steve, you're already there so of course you would prefer the iPhone. Me, I prefer the 5 days at your establishment.

For the price of two iPhone's I can have both! Now using my iPhone at the beach at Playa Maya would take that experience to a whole new level.

Hmmm, maybe I will buy one at launch.

Do I have your permission to quote that view in promotional literature?

I've watched about 3/4 of that now and all I'd like to know is, how did Apple manage to hire Q?

And Bill Gates likes to talk about convergence...

I wouldn't be listening to music, I'd be surfing the internet and posting on playa.info!

Oh wait, that's just as bad as music isn't it?

NOTE: The above is said with tongue in cheek.

Oh man. I'm about 8 minutes into the demo video and I'm hooked. Man I am such a tool.

I must have one. The phone conferencing and the ability to tap on a video playing and have it switch to OAR is worth every penny. Now the hard part will be making myself wait for the second generation iPhone.

Must not cave........must wait for 3G capability........

I'm with ya, pal.

Not that I didn't want one before, of course, but I still had a moment there in the video where it all came together. I think it was just the simple bit with the headphones about how if you get a call, the music automatically fades out and goes on pause, and then when you finish the call, it automatically fades back in a the same spot again. This is to say that it wasn't that in itself, but just what that indicated about the level of integration and the user-focused interface and so on.

I'm more impressed with the integration of features from several different Apple applications into a cell phone. It really is the Mac of cell phones. Amazing.

But, I do have another gripe. I'm impressed with the google maps integration, but one question. I thought some cell phones have GPS built into them. I know a Sony/Ericsson phone I used to have had GPS so that you could be found in an emergency when calling from your cell phone. If the iPhone has some type of GPS locator, shouldn't I be able to call up on Google maps exactly where I am? And if I enter a new address into Google maps, shouldn't one of the options for directions be from my current location based on the GPS data?

I know, I'm knitpicking but that would be really slick. Damn.....must not give in...... must wait......

Kathy watched the 20 minute iPhone video this morning. She was wowed. I told her she could not have one because it would put her life at risk. She of course asked why - I told her if she pulled it out on the bus during her communte, someone might knock her over the head and steal it.

Saved hundreds of bucks with that logic - for a while anyway.

I may be the youngest poster on this thread, but I want an Iphone. I was contemplating buying the New LG Chocolate Flip Phone (The regular LG Chocolate can be a pain in the ass)....but i might just wait for the iphone.....when do we suspect that canadian providers will get ahold of this one? Telus seems to have the biggest selection of new phones, so for me that is good.

But the Iphone may be a part of my christmas present, I think that and new ski equipement are the only two things I have though of at this point.

So now some writers have started talking about the iPhone in religious terms, which led to this cartoon, I guess .

Not only has this become the most over-hyped consumer electronics product release in history, it has also become a pop culture happening. I am sure the future will see some dissertations on it - in marketing, cultural anthropology and who knows what other fields
