Newbie from Houston ,Tx. just located this site today, looks pretty Cool !!
I'm Buying a place in Paamul, 10 miles South of Playa, great snorkeling and Diving,
I'll be flying in 8/15 to take posession of the property. I understand Playa Wireless
handles the internet, via Satelilite in this community, does anyone have a feel for dependability ?? I bring my voice over broadband modem down so I can continue to communicate and conduct Business in the States, I'm a Mortgage Broker...
Any Thoughts ????

20 minutes south of Playa
The internet service here is sketchy.
You'll need to buy a "radio" for about 5500 pesos then your service will cost 600 pesos a month for 256K service...just borderline for decent VOIP.

I bought Tom & Linda's place Palapa #19. I know I'll need my own Satelite Dish, is that the same as (radio) ?? How long have you lived there ?? I spoke to Janet Willis and her Mother in Law several times from here in the States, and their voip sounded Clear as a bell...p.s. I was there in Paamul 6/8 - 6/11

just to be clear
it's not a satellite dish
it's a receiver for the wireless signal
the service is not satellite based

and yes...the phone clarity can be good on any given day
...or horrible on any given day.

256K service ain't good when one is used to high speed cable
