The Internet to you
I have been on the internet for a long time now. At first, my only understanding was a number of news groups. The news groups were mostly used for exchanging information on computer related topics and expanded to include everything from apple picking to sex.
Today the internet is used for email, news reporting, etc. With the faster connection speeds information has gone from text based to graphics based. I use the internet not only for research of business and personal use, but also for entertainment. I still find however, that the best use of the internet for me is information. Information about travel destinations, weather, sports scores and restaurants. That last one is what got me thinking about this. I went out to lunch today to a restaurant that I found on a local forum that discusses local eateries. In fact, some of the best meals I have had over the past few years is because of recommendations from this food forum. The funny thing is I found the food forum from playa.info when the moderator of the board went to playa and posted about it here. So, what do you think the best use of the internet is to you personally? |

skype - get to talk to and see my daughter who is in Italy - for as long as we want and no extra charge! I can't imagine the old days when people could only afford to phone loved ones overseas once or twice a year!

um, i use it for info on medical issues/pregnancy/etc.. also to find new places to eat.. i actually found playa.info first thru following food forum links... we use it to pay our bills.. to email friends... catch up on friend's blogs...
and can't forget that i met matt online as well as many new friends! i'll always turn to the internet as my first resource for any info i'm researching, but i'll also always be thankful for it's impact in my relationships as well! |

I can safely (and somewhat embarrassedly) say that, if it were not for the Internet, I would have had no life whatsoever to speak of for the past 10-12 years. What HAVEN'T I used it for?

It's great when it works! Slow moving and worse today, maybe just sbc global. The single most important device in the house, except for maybe the crushed ice dispenser. Source of endless info. and a link to friends, business, etc. Indispensible.
