Good morning everyone!
Can you believe it? Next week is the fourth already? I am so tired. Stupid me took a Benadryl last night because of my itching misery and I think it kicked in at 2AM ( I took it at 8PM) I'm calling the doctor on my first break today and see if he can get me in after work today. While in Playa last year, my daughter got a bad sunburn on her face and we went to the pharmacy there and the druggist sold us some spray on liquid lidocaine. I got up at 1:30 and sprayed it on my right leg and my right arm. It helped a lot. I'm taking it to work with me today. Gotta go pack a lunch. |

baby slept in til 9:45... I got up to get Michael fed and on the bus at 6:46 (no, that's not a typo) and then I went back to bed til she got up... woo hoo... Ryan I had to wake up at 10:30 so he could get showered for piano "camp" (just an hour a day for 4 days in the summer months, rather than once a week for a month like the school year--easier to schedule around everyone's vacation plans)... then he comes home, eats a sandwich, changes his clothes and I take him to go to work with Mike... that will be his schedule for today, tomorrow and wednesday... nice summer job for a 15 year old... working in Mike's office 10-12 hours a week... then i have to hightail it home to meet the bus... |

Ryan's piano is an odd thing. When he was in 4th grade, he pulled out his little Casio piano thingy (you know, the 12 inch long keyboard) and started picking out Beethoven's Ode To Joy. Told me he was playing it at the neighbor's house. I thought the mom was showing HIM how to play it; turns out it was the other way around. He decides he'd really like piano lessons.
Um. None of us play the piano. We have no piano. We make some calls... it's mid year, no one is taking new students... the one teacher we found required a full sized keyboard or a piano for the lessons... and she was 30 minutes away.... 2 days later, I'm at a lunch to meet a new neighbor, who moved in 8 doors down the street. Someone asks her if she's gotten any new students since she's "started teaching again." I inquire what she teaches. Piano. ZING! She's classically trained, has a degree in music and Italian, played for years in concert, etc etc... And she doesn't care if you have a piece of cardboard with the keys drawn on it... just work on fingering... and he can use her piano if he wants. So for Christmas, we wrote a note saying he was starting piano lessons in January and wrapped that up with his first piano book. Then, for some unknown reason, we bought a piano for him. Just an upright, but still a fairly big purchase. The understanding was that he had to take lessons for 2 years, even if he hated it, even if he sucked. 5+ years later he's still playing. He's very good. But as a teenager has gotten much more lazy in his practicing. He's working on the 3rd movement to Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata (search that one on Youtube) and one of Chopin's Waltzes, I think. Where his playing ability came from, we have no idea. |

Hi All! Back from the cabin and lake. We had a wonderful time. Wish I could be there today...it's close to 90 degrees right now! Got the new boat and lift in. Here is a pic of the boat. Will post more in the photo thread.
