Starbucks in PDC
Ok, so I've been constantly doing research on moving to PDC since my visit there in May and I've decided to try a 6 month stay sometime next year before I take the real plunge, mostly because it seems that finding work is a problem. However, I remember there being a Starbucks on 5th Ave. and I was wondering if anyone knew about a possible job transfer from the Starbucks I work at here in the states to the Starbucks down there. Would I be considered as "taking a job opporitunity" from locals, or would it be acceptable because it'd be a "legitimate transfer"? Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated!!
**EDIT** By "legitimate transfer", what I meant was, it's a company I already work for, so since I already work for them, would it be easy or possible to transfer my job from Louisville to PDC and still be complying with work laws and such. I didn't mean to sound discriminating or like I'm super special for working there. It would just be pretty rad if I could still do what I do everyday, just in PDC....ya dig?

), but I was more or less wondering if it would be any easier to get a job with a company you already work for that has a store there already. You know what I mean? I dunno, maybe I'm not explaing what I'm trying to ask properly...

but you think that would work down here? They probably have people lining up to work in an air conditioned shop. i think you are asking the question properly... ....and the answer is probably the same. |

But again, if somebody from Mexico would arrive in the USA to fill a position the visa requierements would be similar I think: to be a position that needs sombody with special talent that no local would be able to fulfill. But there is something special about Starbucks, it depends if the stores in PDC belong to Starbucks USA or are a franchise, again, look through human resources at home to find out. |

It just depends on the Countries rules....I live in Canada & Aussies can get a Canadian Work Visa for a year & come over & work just about anywhere. (Starbucks included) I think it is for youth up to age 30...Canadians can do the same there. Otherwise you would have to be in a specialized field (IE you don't meet the age criteria or your year is up)
My husband has a US work Visa.... Your question was not stupid by any means.

it works like this: foreign workers need to justify their necessity.... some role that isn't easily filled by a local person... service jobs can be tough to justify. |
