Senator Lugar and others turning on Iraq
Lugar gave 45 minute speech last night. I have not heard all of it, but it seems that he and Senator Voinovich and other Republicans are no longer in support of the surge and the USA course on the war.
How does it seem to you? If that what you have heard about what Senator Lugar said? What is your opinion of it? |

I think it is likely good news. My understanding is that he and other Republicans have ageed to work with their Democratic colleagues in a bipartisan way in an effort to sway the administrations policies in Iraq. If accurate I would think that would be very good news for the nation.

An important statement, imo, from Lugar's senate floor speech:
"American strategy must adjust to the reality that sectarian factionalism will not abate anytime soon and probably cannot be controlled from the top." Here's a link to the whole text: GOP Senator Lugar: Iraq Plan Not Working |
