Monica and Michael's Texas Trip Report

Well we went to the toobin regatta last year and had a blast. Just had to make sure we would get back again. But with the job changes and all we were on the fence….well after a few PMs of encouragement there was no way we were not going to be there.

Monica found a great deal on SouthWest that had a brief layover in St Louis then landed at Love Field right near Mikey and Donna’s house in Dallas.

I asked Monica if she remembered that show Airline click we used to watch and all the problems people had with them…….yea she said but its cheaper then Air Tran ……we will be fine.

Well I had a list of things I wanted to check…….Wine from the vineyard…..stuff to make Maryland Crab Cakes……and some Mango infused Tequila. Well Monica vetoed them all “ we have to switch Planes no checking luggage for You”

Talked to Mikey and Donna on the phone confirmed our arrival time…..Mikey said we would leave right from the Love Field and begin the adventure…he had already scouted out some sights and wineries to visit while on his ROT rally

To bed early Wednesday night gotta leave for the airport at 4:30 am…..Monica had checked us in on line 24 hours ahead so we were in the A group for both Baltimore and St Louis…….no assigned seat you need to be in group A, B or C and fend for yourself …..so being in A for both was very cool.

4:30am came I carried the little bit of luggage to the car and we were on our way……….at the airport no problem with security ……at the gate we noticed some of the other A group had their bags holding their spots in line…….so we moved over in line behind their bags…..got on found a seat together no big deal……..

Then the Pilot came on to say there would be a slight delay because some wrong luggage was put on our plane……..30 mins late we were on our way…….30 mins late…..30 mins late oh my our lay over in St Louis was well 30 mins

Maybe we will make up some time in the air Monica said

I said remember that show Airline

As we got close to St Louis we realized it was going to be very close……..I asked the very gay Airline Steward if he could check which gate we hade to go to ……..he told us it would be gate 4 at the far end and we should be able to make it if we hurried

Plane lands we have 6 mins till our flight from St Louis to Dallas is due to take off…I do an OJ through the Airport while checking to see that Monica is coming along behind me…well the flight from St Louis was delayed by 5mins so we were fine but group A and B had already boarded so we were at the end of group C no problem we did not get to sit together but Monica said that was better because I took up to much room anyway……..landed at Love field and made our way outside to find Mikey and Donna.........

Walked outside the airport and barely had time to sit our bags by the curb when Mikey and Donna pulled up ………Their car was already packed solid….. good thing we didn’t bring much.

We all were very hungry so before starting the road trip we stopped at a place called the Fuel City that had been voted best Tacos in Dallas.






We had a little picnic on the hood …………the Tacos were very good……but small ... I should have gotten a double order like Mikey…….he is the King of double orders I would learn.





Got some real cool Wine flavored Middelton cigars there that we don’t have back home.

Oh I almost forgot the wildest thing about this place was the Texas Longhorns out back



with full bellies we were back on the road…….a little cloudy over Dallas …… not to hot yet



next stop was down highway 35 to the Czech stop in West Texas click cool place we had stopped here last year thanks to Tyra ... we put in an order of KOLACHES for us to eat now and a big order for breakfast the next few days and some special request from some Peeps.



Monica and I called Home to let them know we had arrived safe and sound while Donna waited for the order ( more on that Later).

My on the road Chubby was beef and hot peppers inside a fresh baked bun.



and before we got back on 35 Mikey got a big ole Texas watermelon from a roadside pickup



nice looking melon ...couldn't wait to eat that one....

On the road again....next stop Austin, TX!!!:

getting there was a little crazy.....but getting home ....well you will just have to wait till we get to that part of the story
