Interesting stuff! I also perused some of what was known about S.E. Asia in the early to mid-sixties. Along with some of the WMD stuff out of Iraq.

I know this will sound odd coming from a fellow who strongly believes in Constitutional rights but I find the access to some of the info one can access on the CIA site to be counter to our national security. A very fine line needs to be drawn concerning our right to know versus our security needs.

And, that should be up to the sole discretion of the NY Times.

Absolutely! No what I probably should have said, that is to say what I meant...........except for..............for instance on Tuesdays.....

No, What I should have said is that have access to the ,for lack of a better word, thought processes of our analysts as it is represented in some of the items I read could give an enemy an advantage. In reality the things that we sometimes assume are secret in are not and a decent reporter or scholar is likely very aware of many things of intelligence value.

I think you just hit on the disinformation of the intelligence world. Many times, what is given out as a creidble piece of intelligence "leaked" is really meant to divert attention. While it may be classified, the impact of leaking that particular piece is minor compared to what is really going on.

Not that any of OUR agencies would actually do anything like that! I mean we ARE an open society!
