Birthday Traditions
Todays my birthday (geez I can't be 56). It got me to thinking of things we as a family do on a persons birthday. In our family the birthday person gets to either pick where they want to go for dinner or what they want to have at home. On the big ones we throw a party with friends. I personally decided when I turned 40 that I would no longer work on my birthday. I worked so many of them when I was farming. I usually just use a vacation day and go fishing for part of it. But I have not worked one since then.
So what do you all do when there is a birthday in your family? Oh, I opted for burgers w/ Walla Wall sweet onions, sweetcorn, fresh spinich salad and strawberry shortcake with a few friends on our patio. Simple pleasures are the best. |

Happy Birthday to you!!!!!! All the best for the new year in life!!!
No real tradition in my family to speak of- somthing different every year. The one tradition I got in touch with once was the fact that I got my face stuffed in the cake in Mex.

![]() Hubby and I pick somewhere that we want to go for dinner, or choose a special request to eat. If we decide to go somewhere for dinner, we typically go with friends, and no kids. If we stay at home, we eat something that we would consider a "treat" Such as crabcakes or steamed crabs. |

Happy Birthday to Ya!!!
Immediate family: kids get a kid party and on their birthday, they pick dinner, get a cake, give gifts... adults get to pick the out to eat place and the whole family goes, cake, give gifts... Extended family on my side: we meet once a quarter and celebrate all the birthdays in that quarter... 2nd Q is this weekend, as a matter of fact... cards for the adults, gifts for kids under 18.... once a year we will play Bingo for prizes for the adults and that's the birthday gift for the year...actually, this will be the first year we're going to do this...and thanks to Cuff for the great idea... (unless it totally blows when we do it in September in which case I will say "Gee thanks, Cuff for the sucky idea..." )

Hey Happy Birthday!!
I turned 50 last week.... I'm 50, I kick, I stretch....!!!! I'm 50!! Anyway, we usually have a birthday dinner, either out at a restaurant or at home. Because I'm of Polish decent, we always sing Happy Birthday, then we sing "Sto Lat", a Polish happy birthday. My son turns 20 this Sat., so I think we'll have a cookout and I'll bake his favorite cake, devils food with a white cooked icing. |
