Unfortunately, air service is expensive, so I'll have to send it via ground delivery. Shouldn't take that long for your taco to get to Ohio. It should still be pretty fresh. I mean, its not like the trucks get all that hot during August.

Stewart, our last two days in Playa we ventured over the the "other" side of 307 and had some of the best Tamales at the side of the road, and we also ate tacos, sopes and gorditas at little stands. No pics or names to share though The plan was to drive around a bit and hand out little toys and goodies to the kids. I loved watching their faces when we handed them their baggies. We saw groups eating at various corners and we couldn't resist giving it a try. The people seemed a bit surprised to see us in our rental car, but were very welcoming. There is an El Pastorcito II as well. I was saddened at the condition of the roads and neighbourhood there when just a few minutes drive away the "other half" seems to be living like the rich and famous

Hope your venturing out takes you to the most unlikely corners of QR. There is so much more to experience away from 5th.

Something, that I enjoy very much are squash blossoms or flor de calabaza. These are soooo good.
Those are awesome! I had them in a very tasty soup at La Olla, a really good restaurant in Oaxaca. I also had pollo estufado (I think that's the spelling) that was out of this world!!

Lucky you!!!! I love estofado. I am trying to think of the name of a seafood restaurant where we ate one evening. It was so good. At the market, I had a huge tlacoyo. They are those big tostadas made with a toasted blue corn tortilla. It was fantastic.

I know. I didn't even have the camera with me, and hubby wasn't going to run me back to the condo for a pen and camera. He can't understand taking pics of food But, I must say that eating in the smaller places and with la gente mexicana was the highlight of our trip to Playa. You'll have a great time, and I can't wait to see if you end up at some of the places we found. Never got sick with the food or drinks.

Aren't those amazing? Was this in Oaxaca? That's my favourite state for food, followed by Veracruz.

Yes, I LOVED the food there. The mole is to die for! What really amazed me is that my son, who is not a big fan of Mexican food, ate everything that was served to him throughout our stay. I was SO proud of him! At home he won't eat fish...he even ate grilled fish served with about 50 flies at the beach club in Huatulco! It's amazing what they'll eat if they're hungry enough!

Almost everything tastes better in Mexico. Dave is not too crazy about it here. He usually eats carne asada or shrimp, but while in Mexico, he'll try anything.

Stewart, la señora remarked on the positioning of two taco stands in Playa.

One outside the Red Cross, the other outside the hospital on 30th...

Serving the community, or well placed for emergencies?

A eating guide translator could be a good business while in Playa. You could generate enough business to pay for your trip! That is the sort of thing that could catch on easy. Frequent visitors have gone to the ruins and all of the Parks, and are looking for something different.
