My friend Jesus and I are going to be in Playa together in August. We are going to take advantage of that fact by doing something we've TALKED about doing for a while - eating together!
Jesus and I are planning to go far, FAR off the beaten track together in search of new chow. We're not going to hit any fancy places, just good, authentic local shacks/stands, etc. We don't have an exact date/time but we are thinking about a lunch tour on August 18th and/or a lunch or dinner tour on the 19th. The purpose of this post is twofold: 1. To invite any adventurous peeps who are interested. Please keep in mind, we are going OFF the beaten path here. In other words, if La Pesca or El Fogon are your idea of "adventuresome" dining in Playa, you may just want to wait for our report... (Nothing wrong with those places, BTW!) We've already had a few folks express an interest... (Luis? You reading this? )2. To invite any suggestions for specific places or types of food that you would like us to hunt for and try. Obviously, we can't guarantee we will hit them, but if it looks good/cool/interesting, we sure can try! In the meantime... During our tour(s) we will be taking notes, taking photos and we will do our best to try to bring our experience as completely as possible to your, our dear fellow peeps. So, to my friend Jesus, I have only one thing to say at this point... "Buen Provecho!" Last edited by StewartG; 06-28-2007 at 04:13 PM. |

Jesus and I had talked about hitting Taquria Mamichi (did you see my report on it?), other than that, the field is open. I think we were planning to cruise mostly in the Colosio or the Ejido. |

On the other hand, a stomach full of organ meat combined with an overabundance of tequila, shaken up by a couple hours of dancing... Could get ugly. But on the other other hand...there is always the late night comida run to calm the belly. La Quecas de Playa at around 4am, perhaps? |

Penises, no because is mostly sponginous tissue there, no meat (after bullfights, nearby restaurants would have the balls of the bull on their menu, though). And don't worry, there are many items I won't eat, and I'm there to translate for you guys, I'm the balancing part of the equation. |
